The only reason to live in the present is a different tomorrow

I started watching this film because I saw the film reviews here, saying that it is ordinary but can meet the public's perception of youth, not the youth of special human beings, so I found a chance to sit down and watch it quietly.
This film can't be ordinary anymore, even the hero and heroine are so ordinary, and the storyline has no ups and downs. Although the male protagonist is cynical but not rich and handsome, he lost the news of his father just because he was very young. In order to protect him, his mother deliberately avoided mentioning the existence of his father, but he always casually said that the male protagonist and his father were too similar, and said At these times, my mother is always very disgusted, making the male lead mistakenly think that she is not liked by others, even her mother does not like him; the female lead is not a Cinderella, she likes reading, likes science fiction stories, likes comics, and always acts for her mother Delivering newspapers, her mother controls her life, and even the heroine is admitted to university, her mother does not allow her to go;
once the hero and heroine meet by chance, the hero says that he wants to save the heroine and help her get rid of her bondage. However, the heroine truly dedicated her first time. Even if she accidentally got into a car accident while arguing with the hero, the heroine's first reaction was to confirm whether the hero was injured. But the male protagonist wants to escape. He just wants to live in the moment and be happy. He knows that he can't give others tomorrow, because he never recognizes tomorrow. Just as his geometry teacher expressed his disappointment to him, he asked the teacher: Everyone said to move forward, but I don't think growing up is a good thing, are you happy? Especially when he witnesses his own father's irresponsibility and condescension, he is indeed a replica of his father. It was not until he opened his heart to his mother that he untied his knot and started his life again.
I think the heroine will re-accept him and they will re-walk towards tomorrow. The ending and the story are very ordinary, but its greatest significance is that living in the present is because there is a different tomorrow.

    It's another story of a high school student with a broken family looking for themselves. But this film is obviously a typical "story is good but not filmed well". After watching it, most of the time I feel that the director is around him, but in the end he didn't say anything. Alas, Shailene is so beautiful and good in acting. The film is quite regrettable... (DP! Don’t do so many close-ups with so many pits on the male protagonist’s face, okay!)

    It's rare to have a movie where high school students are like high school students. How can there be so much fun? Who wants to have nothing to do and drink too much. Two people from broken families. get rid of the shitty past.

The Spectacular Now quotes

  • Sutter: You're such a good listener.

    Aimee: No.

    Sutter: Um, alright. You go.

    Aimee: I remember, um, I think it was sophomore year, you came to gym class and you were wearing the mascot head and you refused to take it off. Yeah.

    [laughs]

    Sutter: [laughs] Yeah it was funny.

    [laughs]

    Sutter: Yeah, no, I mean, like, uh, what's a story about you?

    Aimee: About me? Um, I don't really have any stories.

    Sutter: What do you mean? Everyone's got a story.

    Aimee: Not me, I guess.

  • Sutter: As long as I can remember, I've never not been afraid. Afraid of failure... of letting people down... hurting people... getting hurt. I thought if I kept my guard up and focused on other things, other people... if I couldn't even feel it, well then no harm would come to me. I screwed up. Not only did I shut out the pain, I shut out everything - the good and the bad - until there was nothing.
