Climb is all

The realm?
Do you know what the realm is?
It's the thousand blades of Aegon's enemies.
A story we agree to tell each other over and over
till we forget that it's a lie.

But what do we have left once we abandon the lie?
Chaos.
A gaping pit waiting to swallow us all. Chaos isn't a pit.

Chaos is a ladder.
Many who try to climb it fail
and never get to try again.
The fall breaks them.
And some are given a chance to climb ,
But they refuse.
They cling to the realm
or the gods
or love.
Illusions.
Only the ladder is real.
The climb is all there is.

Kingdom?
Do you know what a kingdom is?
He is a thousand swords of Aegon's enemies.
A story we agreed to tell each other over and over
until we forgot the nature of the lie.

After the lies are exposed, what are we left with?
confusion.
A bloody abyss awaits to devour everything.

Chaos is not an abyss.
Chaos is the ladder.
A lot of people try to climb up but fail
and never get a chance to try again.
They fell and died.
Someone had the opportunity to climb,
but they turned it down.
They guarded the kingdom,
guarded the gods ,
guarded love.
All fantasy.
Only stairs really exist.
Climbing is what life is all about.

Valar Dohaeris quotes

  • Cersei Lannister: [referring to Tyrion's new quarters] A bit of a comedown from chamber of the Hand. But then I don't suppose you need much room.

Tyrion Lannister: Grand Maester Pycelle made the same joke. You must be proud to be as funny as a man whose balls brush his knees.

  • Bronn: You've given me a taste for the finer things. And if you want me to carry on protecting you, you'll need to pay more.

Tyrion Lannister: I thought we were friends.

Bronn: We are, but I'm a sellsword. I sell my sword. I don't loan it out to friends as a favor.

    Tyrion Lannister: How much?

    Bronn: Double.

    Tyrion Lannister: Double?

Bronn: I'm a knight now. Knights are worth double.

Tyrion Lannister: I don't even know how much I'm paying you now.

Bronn: Which means you can afford it.
