I have watched a lot of European movies in recent years, and found that one of the popular themes in European movies is the encounter between immigrants and smugglers in different places. For example, Li Mei's favorite [Difficult to Set a Demarcation for Love] (Turquaze), uses a love story to tell the discrimination against Turkish immigrants in Belgium; Dilemma facing Italy. So, are there any films in France that explore immigration issues? The answer is yes, one of which is La cage dorée/The Glided Cage, which was screened at this year's French Film Festival.

[Golden Cage] tells the story of a Portuguese couple Maria (Rita Blanco) and José (Joaquim de Almeida), who have immigrated to France for 30 years. heritage. However, the colleagues, relatives and friends around the couple did not want the two to leave France, so everyone tried to do everything possible to keep the two...

In the 90-minute movie, most of the trivial things in daily life were talked about. It's like shopping for food and cooking, chatting with colleagues, love problems, etc. It might sound a bit boring, but the story is so smooth and it looks very comfortable. I really like the two actors who play Maria and José. They are very tacit, and the frost on their faces does not show old age, which only makes Li feel that they are graceful and kind. The two husbands and wives in the play belong to the working class and are not rich, but they are diligent and earn the respect of everyone around them. In fact, no matter in their hometown or a foreign land, as long as someone needs their own place, it is a place to live.

[The Golden Cage] is the first feature-length work of director Ruben Alves. In the post-screening question and answer session, the director said that the script was inspired by the story of his parents, and the title of the film was from a documentary about immigration, in which a female interviewee who had immigrated to France from Portugal for many years was interviewed. The director said that after hearing that sentence, he wanted to shoot the story of this woman.
