Tolerance and respect for life are heaven

On Singles Day, I watched this "Heaven Now" directed by an Israeli director, a documentary-like film that shows us a very heavy reality through the lives of two Palestinian youths 48 hours before they became suicide bombers.

Kassad and Said are two Palestinian young men, impulsive young, working in a garage, and the impulsive Kassad just lost the job. Said also had an ignorant relationship with a female guest who came to repair the car, the daughter of a famous martyr, and the days were passed peacefully and boringly. At night, they were notified that it was their turn to go to Israel tomorrow to do suicide bombing.

The next day, they were found by Israeli military vehicles while crossing the Israeli barbed wire, and the two fled back to Nablus. During the escape, the two were separated, and Kassad was picked up by the organization. Said went to several places according to his own mental journey, and was finally found by Kassad.

The next day, the two went to perform the mission again. Kassad questioned his mission by searching for Said for a day. Said tricked Kassad into the car back to Nablus and got on himself. A bus with Israeli soldiers was on it and the bomb was detonated.

Throughout the whole article, I feel that it is full of a mockery of their beliefs. Said and Kassad are both ordinary young people, with their own families and lovers, and their own worries, but they have to sacrifice their young lives for the so-called beliefs. When recording the last words, the video recorder, which had broken several times, and the leaders who instructed them to make them into suicide bombers seemed to be eating breakfast as if nothing had happened, and in Kassad's last words, apart from reading the script, the only words of his own were to tell his mother, which one The brand of filter paper is good, which store can buy cheap filter paper. Videotapes of martyrs sell less well than those of renegades, all showing an irony against this belief.

The main reason why terrorist leaders brainwashed the two, and after the separation of the two, the leader's first reaction was that Said wanted to betray the organization, prepare to send photos to everyone, arrest Said, etc. The behavior feels very familiar to me. History never changes, history just keeps repeating.
Perhaps hatred and killing are part of our original sin, which can be accepted and recognized without the need for brains and analysis, just like intuition. And love, tolerance, respect for life, these good things, need wisdom. This kind of wisdom requires a good environment and the unremitting efforts of many generations to form. Just look at the generation of angry young people who grew up on wolf milk, and you will know how difficult it is to form this kind of wisdom.

In the film, through the contrast between the dirty, messy, and despairing people of Nablus and the clean, tidy and bikini girls of Israel, let us reflect on the beliefs of the two young people. Good faith is to make people happier, not more difficult and hateful. In his world-famous Tolerance, Pang Long cites the entire history of Western civilization to illustrate, "When any religion goes beyond the boundaries of tolerance and peace, religion itself changes from an act of human redemption to An ignorant degenerate behavior". Without tolerance and respect for life, the so-called faith will inevitably become a one-way street leading to hell.

The film takes place, Nablus is the "Bible" said Shechem. This is where Jesus asked the Samaritan women for water in the Gospel of John (John 4:1-42). At that time, the feud between the Samaritans and the Jews was far greater than that between the Palestinians and the Israelites today.

When the northern kingdom of Israel was destroyed by Assyria in 722 B.C.E., the remnants who remained in the capital city of Samaria mixed and intermarryed with the foreigners who had migrated in from Assyria, affecting their original blood and beliefs. And those mixed-race children born from intermarriage with other races are the later Samaritans.

In 586 BC, when Judah was swallowed up by Babylon 70 years after returning home to rebuild the temple and rebuild the city walls, the Samaritans offered to help rebuild the temple and rebuild the city walls, but the Jews refused. To vent their anger, the Samaritans built a temple on Mount Gerizim to confront the Jews. The Jews considered the Samaritans to be bastards and spurned them, and even in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah, anyone who married a Samaritan had to break the marriage contract.

Over the next few hundred years, the feud between the Jews and the Samaritans deepened. In 128 BC, the Jewish king John Hyrcanus destroyed the Samaritan Temple, and between 6 and 9 AD, the Samaritans desecrated it by scattering the ashes of the dead in the Jerusalem Temple during Passover. In 52 AD, when pilgrims from Galilee passed through Samaria to Jerusalem, they were massacred by the Samaritans on the way. During the war between the Jews and the Romans in AD 66-70, Jewish rebels took Samaritan. The city of Asia was razed to the ground.

It is this kind of feud in which even speaking is forbidden. Jesus, through his supreme forbearance and compassion, can convert the Samaritans. More than 2,000 years later, on the same land, Israelis and Palestinians are hating and killing each other again. It is a sad thing to say.

In the film, Kassad's belief in heaven was shattered, and Said made a body bomb, more because his father was a renegade, and he wanted to change the identity of the apostate's child, rather than believe in the so-called heaven. Heaven is definitely not built through hatred and killing, it must be achieved through tolerance and respect for life.

Looking at the flood of shouting and killing language on the Internet, the "Stockholm Syndrome" of most people, and blind obedience without wisdom, I understood from the bottom of my heart how Lu Xun felt in the iron room, and also understood the sentence before Jesus' crucifixion. : "Father, forgive them, what they do they do not know" in the helplessness and mercy.

PS: 1. This film was shot by an Israeli director. If it was shot by a Palestinian director, it is estimated that they should be hunted down again.

2. The terrorists in the film use Type 56 submachine guns (which can be seen through the magazine) and M4 assault rifles. I don’t know if they are the export models produced by us. The Israeli soldiers are also wearing M4, not TAR-21.

3. The armbands of the Israeli soldiers are not clearly seen, and I don't know if they belong to the Golani brigade.

4. The actor who plays the mother (Siam Abbas) and the actor who plays the lover (Lubna Azabao) are very tasteful.

  • Jamal: Do you remember the martyr Abul Azzam? He was very security minded. He said, if you fear death you're already dead. If you don't, you'll have a sudden and painless death. He drove the Mossad crazy. They spent millions trying to capture him. When they surrounded him, and he knew his fate was sealed, he opened the door and shouted, you've come to late!

  • Said's Mother: [to her son talking with his mouth full] Turn off that radio in your mouth.
