In this film, Purcell shows us his ability to play a more complex role than the frowning, silent, introverted Lincoln in Prison Break. Especially in the first half, Purcell's deep, restrained and unassuming performance vividly showed the pain and struggle of the character's inner world, especially at his wife's funeral, Purcell's limbs twitched, using an inelegant posture Sobbing, instantly touched the softest part of the audience's heart. It can be said that Purcell's acting is the biggest highlight of the film.
Regarding the plot, at first I thought it was a high-IQ financial theft film similar to "The Trap of Stealing the Sky", but it was later found to be a modern version of Robinson's story. The background of the story is the subprime mortgage crisis in the United States in 2008. The audience's anger and hatred for the greedy and evil speculators on Wall Street, and the male protagonist was established as a crazy avenger who was forced to be helpless. So when the male protagonist finally starts killing people, the audience will take it for granted and be relieved. The grievances accumulated after watching the movie for more than half an hour finally vented.
But as the killing of the male protagonist continued, the audience found that it was not the case, especially the bloody killing of innocents in the office building of the securities company, which is Robin Hood! This is clearly a murderous demon who takes revenge on society! This is probably the biggest flaw of the film. At the end of the film, the director made another joke with the audience. After the male protagonist broke into the securities company and killed him alone, he escaped easily under the siege. Are you an idiot when you are an American police officer? All right! Whoever is serious will lose.
This film catered to the anger of a considerable number of Americans against Wall Street after the financial crisis. The narration of the male protagonist at the end of the film also seems to warn those greedy Wall Street predators, be careful, maybe the story in the film will become true. Oh!
