At this time, Mao Zedong was brewing and launching the "Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution" period. Pol Pot said that during this period, he met with some Politburo members such as Deng Xiaoping and Peng Zhen, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. Although he did not meet Chairman Mao Zedong, Chen Boda, Zhang Chunqiao and others told him about "China's revolutionary theory and Practice”, especially the theory and experience of “power comes from the barrel of a gun”, class struggle, the dictatorship of the proletariat, and proletarian internationalism. It can be said that for Pol Pot, Mao Zedong's theory and China's struggle experience actually became the basis for governing the country in his mind at that time.
