Verlaine was clearly deeper down. Rimbaud is young, outrageous, and deviant. He hates the pedantic, imaginary, and arrogant in society, and he just lives with it. He finally found it. He came to Africa and found the splendor he pursued all his life. Finally, he stopped breathing in the sun, ending his young life.
Die in the brightest years, this may be the best ending for the poet. He never gave up the pursuit of light, even knowing that he would be burned and burned. When the light of the sun first caught his eye, it was destined that he could no longer bear to live a life as mediocre as others. The only thing he could do was to gamble his life towards the golden light. There was not a day in his life that was not so full of passion and pride that he prematurely exhausted his exuberant energy and ended his life.
At the end of the film, Verlaine orders two glasses of absinthe alone, as if the immaculate, high-spirited teenager sitting across from him never left.
