In Beijing Gehua Cable's free on-demand broadcast, "Pro" is classified as a comedy, and Starring is Eddie Murphy. To be honest, I have hardly seen Murphy's movies before, and I can't get rid of the "nonsensical" and comedy shadows, but in my opinion Murphy has crossed the "for the sake of" when choosing the script and interpreting the role. The traditional "nonsensical" performance framework of "burden and burden" even shows the aura of human nature.
The plot structure of "Pro" does not break through the traditional comedy (here is the reference for comparing the drama and the tragedy) "happy reunion" ending form, and even people with a little movie watching experience can predict the plot direction and ending soon after the movie starts.
Since the form is nothing new, what is it that makes people feel? The theme of the film: Rediscovering the spirit of humanity. The film begins with Murphy's aggressive and successful book broker. Of course, this kind of performance is not an empty reality. Under the glitz of today's social progress, almost every enterprising person is eager to express opinions and has no patience to listen. The so-called achievements and progress made by modern people, especially when it comes to social relations, can be said to have discarded or ignored other equally precious things when emphasizing some core values! For example, we pursue personal fulfillment and freedom, but also vaguely have the silent sacrifice for a complete family life. In the face of the spiritual harbor, it is no wonder that the book broker's eyes began to show disdain for human beings after reaching a publishing agreement with the spiritual master at all costs. In the film, Murphy asked his assistant to buy a crown, scepter and throne for him. I even thought that the director would use special effects to make Murphy's head halo. At the peak of his career, all the publishers were rushing to the bright prospect of the forthcoming Bible of the Spirit and began to bid regardless of the cost. At this point, the librarian's pride seemed to be taken for granted.
Even if it is brilliant in the sky, it is inevitable that the night will be deserted. The success of abandoning the soul will eventually make people question it. In an instant, a linden tree rose from the book broker's house, and the most peculiar thing was that when Murphy spit lotus flowers, the leaves also fell. So this is also a tribal movie about miracles. In the face of a sudden "miracle," even the most rational person establishes some supernatural connection between fallen leaves and vitality. When only a thousand leaves are left on the linden tree, the librarian finally realizes that he should shut up, and the film climaxes.
In the past, people could not even speak up, but now they can only say nothing. The severe gap brings not only psychological discomfort, but also the loss of language ability seems to have taken away the family's trust and social status. Modern people, including myself, seem to only express even the most sincere and intimate emotions through external objects, don't they? Compared with the spiritual world of the so-called golden age, the material life of the black iron age may be vulgar and lazy, but the road to civilization has never retreated.
The old saying "death and then live" seems to me to be untrue: equating probability with necessity. It's another miracle that the book agent was able to comprehend and enter the Dao at the last moment after experiencing cherishing words like gold and giving up on himself. For film directors, it is not necessary to care too much about statistical rationality, but more importantly, the will of the audience. Therefore, when there are only a few leaves left on the Bodhi tree, the librarian is forced into a desperate situation in life and begins to sit cross-legged under the tree, and the audience has already achieved results...
Socrates said when he announced to everyone: "Know yourself!" When When people can understand themselves calmly, the re-cognition and transformation of the world begins. Redemption is not limited to life, but also to the soul. The librarian finally put all his identities and masks on the happiness of others, and finally said "I forgive you" in the last language in front of his father's tombstone. The film has actually ended in a sense. Of course, the director has to give the audience an explanation: the agent fell down shouting in the wind, rain, and thunder, and was reborn in Nirvana as the branches of the linden tree were full of leaves.
Man, what kind of life do you want to choose? Maybe it's the question the director of the film asks each audience member. So, what are your options?
