In 117 AD, the Roman Empire was expanding. But in northern Britain, expansion was hindered by the local barbarians, the Picts. Centurion Quintus (played by Michael Fassbender), who survived the Pictish attack, was appointed to lead the 9th Legion of the Roman Legion to annihilate the Picts. But the ninth army was still ambushed by the Picts, and the army commander General Velius (Dominic West) was captured. Quintus resisted the enemy desperately, and escaped with some people. They not only have to face the pursuit of the Picts, but also hope to rescue the general. They do not know that the family was killed by the Romans, and Ai Taien (played by Olga Kurylenko), whose tongue was cut off himself, is full of anger and is hunting them. A dangerous rebellion escaping the Roman frontier is underway...

here's the film's synopsis. The Ninth Corps is known as the Victorious Legion of Rome, and can be regarded as Rome's honorable man. However, it was such a unit that was defeated in a war against the northern regions of Great Britain, and the Ninth Corps was defeated disastrously before the war even began. The soldiers who managed to escape had to go back to the camp where Rome was garrisoned after going through all kinds of difficulties. In the end, the king of Rome decided to kill him in the name of national security and stability... In the end, Quintus escaped from the tiger's mouth and returned home. When I get to where I think I should go...

Heroes are heroes, but the country doesn't necessarily need them. The country has various reasons to persecute a hero, even if the hero has made an indelible contribution to the country...

The first 40 minutes are "Saving General Virilus", the last 30 minutes are "Battle Royale", and finally "The Great Escape". The whole movie and the ending are of the same nature: "It's tasteless to eat, and it's a pity to abandon it". The plot is nonsense and bizarre, the scenes are violent and bloody but not gorgeous.

Centurion, an embarrassment caught up and down. It proves that I love my country, but the country does not love me, so I finally slept with the witch and two cups...

Centurion quotes

  • Centurion Quintus Dias: [narrating] In the chaos of battle, when the ground beneath your feet is a slurry of blood, puke, piss and the entrails of friends and enemies alike, it's easy to turn to the gods for salvation. But it's soldiers who do the fighting, and soldiers who do the dying, and the gods never get their feet wet.

  • Centurion Quintus Dias: I've never seen a general so beloved of his men.

Bothos: Well, in training he is our scholar, at feast he is our father, in the ranks he is our brother, and in battle he is the god, we pray, to save our souls.

Septus: Where did you read that?

Bothos: It's writ on the shithouse wall, sir.

    Thax: Probably wrote it himself.

Septus: He's a ruthless, reckless bastard - and I'd die for him without hesitation.
