First of all, it can be seen from the back plot that the scam started when frank introduced a psychiatrist to Joy. The group had already planned it, but Joy accidentally spilled the pill. Note that it was an accident. What if he didn't spill the pill? What if the pills didn't fall down the drain? The most suspicious thing is, where is the doctor before Joy? He should have found that doctor himself. Why did he disappear? Then I still temporarily understand that the previous doctor was also from Frank's group, even if he didn't spill the pills, This doctor will also "disappear" after his medicine is finished, otherwise it will be impossible to tell from the beginning.
Then frank introduced him to a doctor. Since he trusted Frank very much, he went to the doctor, which is very reasonable. Next, the fake doctor deliberately mentioned his ex-wife and children in order to make the fake daughter Angela appear. The question is again, what if joy has no interest in his wife and children? What if he doesn't want to call his ex-wife at all? Or maybe he really called his ex-wife in person, and when the two of them chatted, wouldn't they have to play?
Next, skip to Angela's stay at Joy's house to cheat his trust. If the previous ones are true, he can meet his "daughter" smoothly, but what if he doesn't want her daughter to live in his house? Doesn't he really want to be close to his daughter? Have no feelings for your daughter? He is used to being alone and is mentally ill, and is more likely to refuse to live with others. (The middle is still reasonable, in order to prevent him from really calling his ex-wife, Angela kept emphasizing how much "mom" hates him).
And then there's the scam. Although Angela asked him to go bowling, "being tricked" to leave early, these are all planned, but if Joy is out of the protection of her daughter (he has a deep affection for Angela at this time), she will not let her daughter Participate, without taking her to the airport, the scam behind cannot continue.
Then he let Angela go, stop appearing in front of him and then go to her soft-heartedly, what if he really did not want to see her? The main event of "injuring people" in the back is impossible.
And then after Angela "hurt people", what if Joy didn't let Frank take her daughter away, but ran away with them? There will be no later section that says the safe password.
In the end, joy was lying in the "hospital", and a "police" came to cross-examine him, if he hadn't called a fake doctor and told him the password, how would they have gotten the money? On the contrary, I think it is very strange and unreasonable for Joy to call the doctor to tell him the password, because he also knows that the doctor is a good person (at least he plays a good person), how can he help him to do such illegal things, and if the doctor puts these I told the police what to do, but they were not particularly close friends.
In short, this movie gives me the feeling that it looks good at first glance, but after thinking about it, there are doubts listed above. These doubts boil down to the fact that the cheating process is too smooth. After all, JOY is also a master of Frank, and he is also very powerful. A liar, can't really notice anything, how can he follow Frank's idea completely.
In this regard, I think there are two possibilities. One is that the screenwriter did not care about this issue or chooses to ignore it, and the other is that JOY himself said in the movie that there will be various situations in cheating, and you have no way to control it. As things develop, the only certainty is the object of deception. I hope the plot develops like this, then this movie is still relatively perfect.
