Hit the road Jack don't you come back, the first time I listened to Ray Charles is this song, it looks easy like a down-and-out middle-aged run-down house being kicked out of the house by a charter wife or wife, old tricks, but really I didn't expect this to be sung by a woman full of love and hatred for a man. Finally, I watched this movie as rich as his music for many years, but it wasn't Ray Charles' amazing music creation and talent that moved me. It was he who made his painful childhood memories time and time again. The narrative of the film, the past and the future are interspersed with each other. At first, I thought that the poor childhood background was a clichéd old story behind a celebrity, and even the illusion of water at the beginning I thought it was the post-traumatic sequelae of the Vietnam War. The truth is revealed, the whole drama enters the core, the beginning of glaucoma, the mother's well-intentioned teaching and training to Caray, mama's every single words hit me strongly, basically I can't stop the tears when I see it here, 'caught A liar, here comes a thief', 'Listen to ray, you're going to be blind, I'll teach you now, once or twice, but the third time I won't teach you, you have to learn by yourself', 'You have to be strong, don't let yourself become a crippled person, don't rely on the charity of others, use your own feet to stand up', there is nothing more capable and sad than the image of this mother, Lei even is here. He has never forgotten what his mother said since he became an adult. He recalled from time to time, he also completely remembered the characteristics of her mother's perseverance and shrewdness. Even if she was blind, no one deceived him, and once again fulfilled the sentence 'Ray, you You're going to be blind, but you're not stupid', every word is strong, and there are tears.
The genius and strong character of course doomed him to be extraordinary and brilliant, and it was this strong character that he chose to take everything to his heart and let himself solve it. Neither of the two kids had any idea of giving up drugs, until Bee reminded him, 'What you value most is not me, not your son, or your constantly changing lover on tour, but your music! If you don't quit it, he'll ruin your music! 'Finally, when it came to the interests of his heart, with great determination and perseverance, he overcame the initial and most difficult physical therapy, but physical therapy was not the biggest problem, but the pain that had accumulated in his heart for many years. To resolve, his brother's death is a wound in his life, a wound of guilt, because he can't face the redemption, the drugs have relieved his extreme pain, no matter what he can do with his will, but he can't do it, one day. He can't get forgiveness and redemption in his heart, and his life is still sad one day, and the final outcome also hints at the success of his self-salvation. When I saw my brother tell him that he didn't blame him, it seemed that I could also feel it. That emotion finally calmed down...
a wonderful life, a brilliant life, Lei is lucky to have such a mother who taught him incomparably strong and dignified, and a wife who never leaves. The movie is great, the real Sao Ling Singer, the real pain and the real selfishness and depravity, it is this that shocks me more, a heart that pursues a soul without sin and peace

A superstar's life is actually brilliant and full of flavors

What a struggling man Ray is. The film depicts more of his inner dark side and pain than the bright side we see. The agent Jeff and his wife are really great. Foxx's performance is impeccable, and he can do it so well when he can't use his eyes. There are two or three small touching points, but it is not deliberately provocative, which is very good.

Ray quotes

  • Jerry Wexler: Ahmet believes we're family here at Atlantic Records. I believe we're family at Atlantic. Obviously you don't. Ahmet wouldn't believe it. You know what he said, Ray? He said you would never turn your back on us. Never for a schlockmeister like Sam Clark. Ha! That's rich. Sam Clark's a corporate slug who wouldn't know the difference between Earl Hines and Art Tatum! We let you grow here, Ray. Nobody's taking credit for your talent, but we nourished it. We let you do your thing. Goddamn it, we deserve better than this.

Ray Charles: You know that I appreciate everything you guys have done here, Jerry. Ahmet, I'm very proud of the work we've done here together and Atlantic has done pretty good moneywise on my records, haven't they?

Ahmet Ertegun: Yes, we've done very well, Ray.

Ray Charles: You're the ones who taught me that making a record is business and find the best business deal that you can. Now seventy-five cents of every dollar and owning my own masters is a pretty damn good deal. Can you match it?

Ahmet Ertegun: Ray we would love to match it, but we just can't. That's a better deal than Sinatra gets... I'm very proud of you.

  • Ray Charles: You told me to find my own voice.
