Hatred is a terrible poison, and its only antidote is revenge. However, this antidote will make people fall into another abyss, and there will never be a day to turn over.
The film "Deadly Black Orchid" tells such a story. After witnessing the murder of her parents as a child, Katalia returned to her uncle after many twists and turns; but she never stopped taking revenge. After each action, she would leave a "Catalya" (orchid) mark on the body of the victim. This led to the murder of her last relatives, her uncle and grandmother, which strengthened her determination to take revenge. As a result, the revenge operation finally succeeded. She stepped on the bus and drove into the distance...
The plot of the film is inevitably cliché, which is quite a bit like "Killer Leon" or "Very Trafficker". The protagonist, Katalia, is like a catwoman with super powers, who can do anything. Aside from these, "Deadly Black Orchid" conveys a perseverance in its shots that penetrates into the hearts of every audience. These belong to a lonely girl, a lonely avenger.
Throughout the film, a depressing grey khaki runs throughout. Coupled with the oppressive cool tones, it gives the audience a strange feeling. The desire for revenge overflows the "shadow" table. Rather than saying that this method of treatment is to match the plot or the background of the film, it is better to say that these tones echo Catalya's heart. Under the blow of her family's destruction, her world is no longer bright, the little girl who yearned for beauty has long disappeared, and the fire of hatred has been ignited. Only revenge can let her escape from all this and let her heart be redeemed.
The film mostly uses subjective shots to show the perseverance of Catalya when she kills. Those shots are like a long sword, piercing the enemy's heart. Slowly moving forward, followed by the "prey"'s fearful and panic expression, and finally the gunshot killed, leaving a mark, neat and tidy. These processes are just as incomprehensible as Catalya, whether they are passionate or cold. Everything is like a cloud, fleeting.
The Catalya portrayed by the film is itself a contradiction. She loves her family, but she is ruthless in the process of performing tasks; she still has love, but she is not soft-hearted towards her enemies, and she has no compassion for her; she loves her boyfriend, but refuses him to come into her heart... Insecurity and longing for a different life. It is normal to have these thoughts in the oppressive environment of growing up.
At the end of the film, however, Catalya takes a relaxed pace, gets on a bus, and heads for the sun-dazzling distance. Or, this is the beginning of her new life, where there is no hatred, no danger, only love.
hope so.
