The Walter family was forced to come to Kenya due to the status quo. The unique culture of the African continent caused each member of the family to undergo different transformations. In the end, a part of their lives could never be separated from this land.

Zeta's daughter Regina's fascination with and attachment to the African continent is even more allegorical, implying that returning to a natural way of life is an irresistible longing for life.
