call of the sea

Luc Besson is a great man. Most of the people who like small and fresh these days have Luc Besson hanging on their mouths, and the words French films and literature and art are hanging on their mouths. I didn't feel that much when I watched Luc Besson's films before, even the highly acclaimed killer Leon didn't give me much shock, but this "Blue Sea and Blue Sky" filmed in 1988 made me amazed.
"Do you know how to meet a mermaid? You're going to swim to the bottom of the ocean, where the water isn't blue anymore, and the sky is just a memory, and you're just lying there in silence, staying there, determined...for them Death, only then will they appear, they will greet you and test your love, if your love is sincere and pure, they will stay with you and take you away forever..."
I think Luc Besson is better at making literary films than commercial films, and this literary film is even more devoted to his ideals. As far as he said, it is the most proud work. Boyhood dreams seem to be difficult to erase, Besson's dream is to be a diver and navigator. The dream is in the blue water. Compared with the killer series, I prefer the determination and determination to realize the dream here.
Jack grew up by the sea, his mother left the United States, and his father died in a diving accident. His only way to survive is diving, and he has also developed a good skill in diving. Emotional sustenance is also in the dolphins and the sea. Twenty years later, Enzo, the only mate of the year, invited Jack to a diving competition. Jack repeatedly broke Enzo's diving records, making Enzo unwilling and eager to compete. Finally died in a diving competition. The request before dying was to let Jack send him to the depths of the sea to see what happened. The loss of a dear friend has left Jack unable to extricate himself, and his love for diving is at its peak at this moment. He can no longer integrate into human society. Jack finally understands what he is most worthy of pursuing in his life, and turns around and throws himself into the sea.
He said, I can't find a reason to rise from the sea. The way he looked at the sea was too crazy, as if he was willing to plunge into the sea and turn into a dolphin.
There is a class of people whose lives depend on a certain class of things that are incomprehensible to ordinary people. We think it's too crazy to understand. For them, that's all they have.
I remember watching "Grey's Anatomy", there was an episode about a biologist who devoured parasite eggs and cultivated worms in his body in order to cure his gastrointestinal disease. Although it is for curing diseases, it is still for experimentation in the end. When the doctor decided to perform surgery to remove the worms, he said, "You have been living a mediocre life just like ordinary people. You don't know what else to pursue in life. Your life is blind and trivial." However, suddenly one day, you find that there is something unusual in your life, so you pursue it hard and are willing to give everything to realize the meaning of life. These bugs are the meaning of my life.
Just as the pilot is to the sky, the navigator is to the sea, and the climber is to the mountain. The sky, the sea, and the mountains are the meaning of their lives. The vastness of the sky, the majestic mountains, and the depth of the sea are like another world, quiet and lonely.
Before he died, Enzo said he wanted to see what was under the sea.
In the film, it's not just Jack exploring the meaning of his life, but Enzo as well. At first it was because he was competitive, diving to the limit of his body again and again, but not because of his love for the sea. This was the difference between him and Jack.
And finally, at the end of his life, Enzo found out that he loved the sea so much that he would be buried in the sea even when he died, to see clearly.
This is Enzo's quest, and his quest inspires Jack's quest, the fuse for Jack to get rid of the last obstacle. In the film, there is actually a lot of space to tell the story between Jack and his girlfriend Joanna, but in my opinion, I don’t think that the beauty is there. How sorry.
But now that I think about it, the existence of a girlfriend is reasonable and necessary, because the realization of the ideal requires a price. Jack gave up love and life, which made his decision to choose the sea so tragic. It's not worth it to Jack, it's just a choice. Choosing another way to live and burying in the sea is probably the beginning of real life for idealists.
The depths of the sea is an extremely quiet and lonely place, where there is not even a color, not a trace of light, only a bone-chilling cold. There is no real fetters, no human sophistication, only oneself and the sea.
I have read a novel about diving, and I heard that when diving to a certain depth, there will be an illusion, and you will be able to see the illusion that you most want to see in your heart and the illusion you want to see the most. At the end of the film, Jack saw a dolphin in the depths of the sea. It was what he wanted to see the most. He was always with his family and his emotional sustenance.
Humans are always unable to get rid of their inner loneliness, and can only be relieved in nature. Climbers are willing to push their limits. During the process of climbing, all you can hear is your own breathing and wind, and you are alone. But the soil under your feet is the body of the mountain. You are one with the mountain, and you will never feel lonely again. The mountains accept you, and the sea will accept you.
The film always reminds me of Jack London's novel, The Call of the Wild. As the wilderness calls Buck, its blood boils, the wilderness is where he was born, and should be the grave where he died.
Humans came from the ocean and should also belong to the ocean. The reincarnation of life is all transformed into the deep cold sea, which is another beginning of life.
In fact, I was thinking, it would be great if there were such creatures as mermaids. There is always a class of people who are well-deserved sons and daughters of the sea. Perhaps, the young Luc Besson also thought of dying alone but not lonely.
