Please don't sympathize with him easily

There is no way to understand his paintings without reading his biography.
I just want to say that his natural outspoken and enthusiastic character, his crazy love for life, and his pursuit and persistence in his own value are destined to become a great artist.
His innocence kept him frustrated, and his artistic attainments became higher and higher.
I admire his perseverance and focus, and admire his tireless pursuit of art.

After reading a lot of comments, there are so many people who sympathize with him, and so many people criticize that society.
Yet all I have for him is worship, worship, worship.
He has been doing what he loves to the point of madness.
Regardless of whether he has realized the value of life in the worldly sense, he has always been firmly pursuing his inner choice.
He is extremely happy.
Please don't easily sympathize with him, or criticize the people of that era.
Those who have studied a certain amount of art history also know that when an art trend leads the times, it has always been a common thing to tolerate heresy. To be art is to endure. He deserves
all the joy and suffering that he has endured. Because God destined him to be Van Gogh.

Lust for Life quotes

  • Theo Van Gogh: Vincent, uh... it's all good, all of it. The important thing is that one day it could be... *sublime*. Well between then and now, there's one thing you can do for me, a little thing is all I ask: let me get a night's sleep.

[turns and heads to bed as the scene fades out]

  • Paul Gauguin: How long have you been in Paris?

Vincent Van Gogh: Over a year.

Paul Gauguin: How can you stand it? I can't work here. It *strangles* me.

Vincent Van Gogh: But where would you go?

Paul Gauguin: Brittany. There's a place up there I can stay. It's just a hole, but it's all I can afford.

Vincent Van Gogh: Wouldn't you miss your friends in Paris?

Paul Gauguin: Friends? A woman or two maybe. When you start as late as I did you find yourself measuing who and what you give your time to. Friends, comforts, family - if they interfere with your peace to work you cut them off. And you spend the rest of your life wondering if it was worthwhile.
