Hemingway and Gellhorn: We're not perfect for each other

I have to admit that watching a movie in sections is a blasphemy to continuity. Movies are different from American TV shows, which need to show a complete story in a few hours. Explain, lay out, advance, climax, curtain call, all in one go. If it could be paused, perhaps the film would not need to be seen by such an audience.

For me, it was just admiration for Kidman. But to be clear, as long as there is a shot of the muse, I can't take my eyes off it. Especially the second half, I think, I watched it.

Hemmingway said that he fulfilled Gellhorn, it is better to say that Gellhorn fulfilled Hemingway. Gellhorn, one of the world's most famous female war correspondents. Love in the battlefield is what she wants, but she also can't let go of the outside world. But love is what keeps Gellhorn going. At the end of the film, she pulls out Hemingway's letter saying "Love is infinitely more endurable than hate", then picks up the phone and prepares to continue reporting on the front lines, despite her forty-five years in the job, albeit wrinkled Covered her beautiful face. In my heart, I would unnaturally think, well, let's go.

Lots of intentions in the movie. Heavy rain in the ocean. Bullets used to swallow guns. Let the manuscript drift down. A typewriter that emits a crisp sound. They each complete, each continues. like they are in love.

Hemingway & Gellhorn quotes

  • Martha Gellhorn: We were good in war. And when there was no war, we made our own.

Martha Gellhorn: The battlefield neither of us could survive was domestic life.

  • Ernest Hemingway: Writing, at its best, is a lonely life.

Ernest Hemingway: As a writer grows in public stature, he sheds his loneliness, and often his work deteriorates, for he does his work alone.
