Possibility of switchblade dissection

Human nature has many possibilities, and stories place people in a world constructed by reality or imagination—but mostly reality plus imagination, for these possibilities to appear on the stage.
People under the stage can substitute into the story and become secret people on stage.
The people on the stage take this off the story and become the people offstage.
The narrative of the film is just a simple display, without too many characterizations, which is a rare implicit.
Karl spoke slowly and thoughtfully, and
—full of ritual, like the baptism in the sun on the last day before leaving home—was a late ceremony.
The atmosphere of the whole story is in sunny and mild weather. In one scene, light came in through the window of a repair shop, and inside the house were two adults who didn't know how to speak properly, exchanging their words for a little favor.
It was noon in the setting - noon light is not like that. The truth of reality is probably not very important. The truth of human nature and the possibilities it has are probably the ones that need attention.
The joke of the two people standing on the bridge peeing, the "my history" Karl learned, and the line: He likes the way I talk, I like the way he talks.
Words jump between people, It forms the connection between people.
People can find specular reflections, or projections, in people. Or suppose you are placed there, probably here, and you have changed to the stunned eyewitness looking there.

The IQ of the mentally retarded is not very low, and most of the people around are also very good and forgiving. Except for the ending, everything else is too harmonious.

Sling Blade quotes

  • Doyle: Believe in the Bible, do ya Karl?

Karl: I don't understand all of it, but I reckon I understand a good deal of it.

Doyle: Well I can't understand none of it. This one begat that one and that one begat this one, and lo and behold someone says some shit to someone else - just how retarded are you?

  • Karl: There was a boy. We made friends.

Charles Bushman: Ha ha, I'll bet you did. 'Course I was never bent that way, I was always bent the other way.
