STAY Life and Death Stay

I found this movie from posts such as "XX movies with high IQ", so I searched and found that there were some spoilers in the post, such as "The mystery is all revealed at the end", "There is an end." "Reincarnation" and the like, but after reading it, I found that these are not spoilers at all, and the biggest spoiler is simply its Chinese translation...

The first half was played while playing Mandora, and the second half was taken seriously. Originally like this so-called high-IQ movie, if you dare to come out and write a review (like object), you should watch it several times seriously, but... If you are serious about this kind of white-eyed movie that tries to play with your brain cells, you will lose .

The reason why you find it difficult to understand is just because you are habitually watching movies with common sense, and you have been fooled for more than an hour. If you were told from the beginning that this movie was actually made by a person’s heart, then don’t care about this movie. No matter how weird the movie is - for example, there's nothing wrong with adding sugar when the girl sitting opposite eats meat dumplings, right?

Although this is a bit low-end, the whole film is actually Henry's near-death experience, or the last YY before his death... Everything just exists in his thoughts and minds, not reality. This will make it easier to understand.

Here's a little more detail on this fantasy.

First, this illusion exists in Henry's consciousness. In reality, he had just been in a car accident and was dying. (Please don't ask questions that challenge the limits of human intelligence such as "Why did he have so many stories of YY in such a short time before he died". Thank you.)

Then, about the characters in the fantasy. In the end, it is not difficult to see that the characters in the whole story are actually captured by Henry from the surrounding onlookers. I believe that many people have had the experience of interweaving reality into a dream. Including the words spoken by the onlookers at the scene also appeared in the fantasy many times. At the beginning of the film, Henry also mentioned that he had been hearing someone talking in his ear. In addition, the origin of the hail is also very clear at the end.

Among these characters, Sam and Lila, who are in reality, are obviously given special meanings.

In the fantasy, Henry wanted to commit suicide because of his guilt that he killed his parents, and this guilt came from reality. We can think that the successful suicide in the fantasy also means Henry's death in reality. - At least that's what it turned out to be.

Henry and Sam in the fantasy can be considered as two personalities split into Henry's consciousness (it may not be accurate, but it is easy to understand), Henry's personality represents the will to commit guilt and seek death, and Sam's personality obviously represents In reality, the people who rescued him and his own will to live, the whole story shows the struggle between the two, in fact, the struggle between Henry himself and himself in reality. However, although Henry seems to be able to split into two in his world, after all, the two "personalities" cannot really be completely separated, so there will be a situation where the boundaries between the two are blurred.

The above is the general idea. Many details have not been mentioned. Some of these details may be just metaphors for the philosophy of life, while others are still puzzling logic games. I have not figured out many of them, such as

the character of Lila. What is the role?

Does this fantasy really exist only in Henry's brain? Or is it interspersed with the psychological world of Sam and Henry, or even with many people?

The symbolism of the ring on Sam?

Is there any special meaning to the reincarnation and repetition of time?

...

After all, it's a "high-IQ movie", it's always good to leave some doubts, but just watch it again~

Stay quotes

  • Henry Letham: Do you know the Tristan Rêveur quote about bad art? It's "bad art is more tragically beautiful than good art 'cause it documents human failure."

  • Sam Foster: [gesturing to the surrounding paintings on display] Are any of these yours?

    Henry Letham: Ouch.

    Sam Foster: What?

Henry Letham: Well... these are bad, Sam.
