On a rainy afternoon, the first German movie I watched carefully.
A special feature of this film is that it rarely uses background music, so it feels extremely melancholy, sad, and heavy. Even a few smiley clips are presented in a wildly offbeat way. For example, the male protagonist smashes the wine glass with both hands and shouts, I am in love. At the same time, blood was dripping from both hands.
Two people who have been abandoned by life come together because of despair, but they are not allowed to meet because of new gains.
Old love and new love, memories and future. The choice faced by the heroine is also the painful choice faced by countless people who have been dissolute and finally reformed. The responsibilities of life force us to do what we ought to do, not what we love to do.
This is life, you have to learn to be responsible.
The literal translation of the title seems to be a last stand. Now that life is driving you to a dead end, prepare to fight back.
