I prefer the title "Barbara" to the title of the film in Taiwan, "Runaway for Love" and the title of "The Female Doctor's Secret" in Hong Kong. Because it is impossible to guess, just as it is impossible to guess Barbara, it is impossible to guess the heart of every such woman.
To be honest, maybe because of the lack of historical knowledge, some backgrounds are not well understood. Again, the film starts and ends in a very peaceful atmosphere from beginning to end. There are no ups and downs, no vigor, and no heartbreak, telling that women are extraordinary in one ordinary after another.
Babara was sent to a rural hospital for wanting to escape from the GDR to the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany). How could this punishment make her submit? She doesn't get close to the locals not because she feels superior, but because she doesn't feel like she belongs there. In a place that doesn't belong to you, why should you invest a lot of emotion and seriousness?
But a lot of times, changes really don't go as planned. Real life is the same. We cannot predict the future. Many times we think a lot, but we can't go according to our plan. Especially women, we are too easy to be emotional, too easily moved by some small actions around us, small love - family, friendship, love, even the feelings between strangers. Even if we have been admonishing ourselves to be rational, how can this admonition resist the surge of emotion when it arrives.
Barbara finally chose to stay in West Germany, not because she didn't love her anymore, but because there was something more worthy of her waiting for her, so that she was willing to exchange her freedom for it. Why is she not sad? Maybe this time she gave up her freedom for a lifetime. But what about this? '"A moment is eternity". If you think it's worth it at the moment, that's fine. Exchange her freedom for another girl's freedom, she thinks it's worth it, that's enough.
Women are so unpredictable sometimes. In fact, sometimes it is difficult for us to understand ourselves. It is not true that women are impulsive. When we make those important decisions, we are extremely sober and calm. Who created such a magical creature as a woman? Perhaps, this is a woman, and this is the meaning of a woman's existence.
