Looking for a long time in this life, it is not worth the hero to fall into the world

Hong Kong's shootout films, I like John Woo's early, undercover films, and I like the three "Spicy Detective", "Dragon Tiger" and "Infernal Affairs" the most.
"Hot Detective/Gun God", John Woo's movie, the plot is very scary. It turns out that this melancholy young boy named Lang (Leung Chiu Wai) is not a real gangster, he is just an undercover agent. In order to investigate the case, he was forced to kill the old Uncle Dahai, who respected his father. He really didn't want to do it, but Ah Lang endured it for his duty. He shot Uncle Hai's subordinates, not bullets, but the inner pain of a tragic undercover agent. His eyes showed all the pain. He was almost killed by police detective Tequila (Chow Yun-Fat). Later, Ah Lang became himself and joined forces with Tequila to fight against the enemy. Although he kills a lot, he does not lack childlike innocence. The ending is subtle. It can be considered that Ah Lang died later, or it can be considered that he did not die. Seeing Ah Lang in a pool of blood at the end made me feel desolate, but then he reappeared, giving people hope. Likewise, Tequila (aka Ah Yun) also has a dual personality, he is rebellious in character, reckless and hot in form, but He is devoted to his friends, and he is honest and loyal to his duties. After watching it, my little cousin said that the film was beautiful but too scary.
.
The film is very thrilling (Director Wu's are all thrillers). But in this thriller, their bravery in the face of adversity can be seen, similar to adventure. Young Tequila (aka Yun) has a rebellious personality and acts recklessly, but not always. I like the lonely undercover Jiang Lang. He has the heart of a child. For his duty, young Ah Lang gave up everything (including his life), and his heart was extremely painful.
Rooftop opera reminds people of the later "Infernal Affairs", which is not thrilling but suspenseful. Not much to say, this is different from the previous undercover films in that both sides sent undercover agents. Although Yongren (Leung Chaowei) and Liu Jianming (Andy Lau) did not have feelings with the underworld like Gao Qiu and A Lang did, but because they had been undercover for a long time, they fell into infinity and lost their identities,
A Lang: at least they saw the light. I have asked people, there is sunshine 24 hours a day.

Yuan Haoyun (Tequila: Hehe, the ideal is not just to talk about. I also have an ideal: I wanted to be a band when I was young, but I didn't expect to enter this business. Hey, this world is just a joke...

Uncle Hai: Ah Lang, that's how things are in the world. There are some things you don't want to do, but you are forced to do them. Just like it is impossible for me to close the mountain, since I stepped into the rivers and lakes, I knew that such a day would come.

The master of Wu Yusen’s works, bullets fly wild, bloody flesh and blood, and the three-minute long shot of one hour and forty minutes is also irritating. Wu Yusen’s villains are always a pure symbol of evil, compared with the later good and evil in the police film. In Wu Yusen's film, there is only the sympathy between good and evil and the sword of heroes.

Personal evaluation: 87/100 John Woo's last work in Hong Kong is very crazy. It really achieves high energy throughout the whole process, and the damage effects of various shots or bullets are among the most powerful in Wu's shootout films. Every weapon can play a higher level of destructive power. Although it is exaggerated, it is very enjoyable. I personally like the combination of Fage Viazai very much. The former seems to be possessed by Xiaoma Xiaozhuang and Ken has such a strong fighting power, while the latter is like Chen Yongren's prototype, black and white. Huang Qiusheng's villain is also really perverted. The shootout in the teahouse reflects the explosive power of this film. Although the brotherhood of the plot is weaker, the infinite cult of bullets is obviously enhanced. The warehouse battle is really a halo, and the 50-minute hospital battle is a real urban battle, full of holes and romantic. The explosion at the end is one of the most spectacular Wu films. The various long-shot sets are very innovative and difficult. Overall, I personally feel that this is John Woo's most popular work. Although the depth and breadth may not be as strong as the previous works, it is the pinnacle of Hong Kong films no matter what level.

  • Tequila: What's with all these paper cranes? You bored? Maybe you feel lonely here?

Alan: You know, I've always hated making cranes. I make one each time I kill somebody. How about it, shall I make you one?

Tequila: No thanks. And if you'll get killed, who'll make yours?
