The good old days, and a serious Jim Carrey: A review of 'The Grand'

Several reasons for loving this film:

1. Quite nostalgic, the simple folk customs of the town, the characters' costumes and hairstyles are all restored quite successfully. The luminosity chosen for photography is just right. The pacing of the narrative is not slow either. In short, everything allows you to immerse yourself in it, and you don't feel that 152 minutes is too long.

2. The story is very heartwarming, with family, love, and belief in freedom, democracy, and patriotism.

3. Outstanding performance by the supporting cast. Although Jim Carrey worked very hard to play the main role and tried not to use his flexible and developed facial muscles, he was still reminiscent of the many comedy characters he had created, and frankly speaking, his performance was still is lacking.

The film has enough warmth and Jim's performance has enough sincerity, ignoring those old-fashioned and old-fashioned themes.

8 points. It is understandable why this film will be Jim Carrey's own favorite film. For the residents of Langson Township, it is no longer important whether the pig horn is really Luke who has lost his memory. The key is that their sad emotions need a place to vent, and the male pigs just follow this trend. The whole film is full of deep love, which makes people feel warm. It is a pity that the content of the final opposition to McCarthyism is a bit harder.

The Majestic quotes

  • Adele: Come on.

[opens window leading down to Town Hall's basement]

    Adele: You first.

Peter Appleton: [pause, suspiciously] Why me?

Adele: [deadpan] Well, in the case the vicious guard dogs haven't been fed.

    Peter Appleton: [silent, looks horrified]

Adele: So you can be a gentleman and help me down.

  • Adele: I'm trying to make up my own mind, about you being Luke.

Peter Appleton: [rolls eyes] Join the club. So what you do think?

Adele: The jury is still out.

    Peter Appleton: Fair enough.
