The daughter of a detective was killed by a company boss after she revealed to a senator that her company was secretly producing nuclear weapons for a foreign country. The detective found out the truth after investigation, but was caught by the company and poisoned him. The detective killed the boss of the company before he died. In the end, the senator who was close to the company and was donated by it was also killed by government personnel. However, the video CD recorded by the murdered girl before her death to explain the truth has been sent to the TV station by the detective.
Although the story of the film is fictitious, the shady scenes of the collusion between officials and businessmen in the U.S. government's parliament are real and widespread, and what the film describes is just the tip of the iceberg.
Collusion between officials and businessmen exists in any country, and the various events caused by it, ordinary people will never know the truth. In this movie, the detective finally learns the truth and avenges his daughter, which is still idealized. Moreover, even if the video disc with the truth of the matter is obtained by the TV station, it cannot be broadcast publicly, and the reality will always be like this.

Edge of Darkness quotes

  • Thomas Craven: You know, Bill, no one expects you to be perfect. But there's just a few basic things you gotta get right. Always do the best you can by your family. Go to work every day. Always speak your mind. Never hurt anyone that doesn't deserve it... & never take anything from the bad guys.

  • Darius Jedburgh: Now, you know better than anyone, cases like these are never solved. They're simply too complicated, too much hard work. There's a lot going on out there in this world. And you just never can connect A to B.

Thomas Craven: How do you know that?

Darius Jedburgh: Because I'm usually the guy that stops you connecting A to B. It's part of what I do.
