The film tells us a strange story. But the reasoning is a bit poor, because the information is told one after another without giving the audience any clues. However, if you look closely, there are still some foreshadowings. The robber recites the prayer to show that he knows the priest. Before his death, the rapist said that the blood he splattered would harm others; The worst woman's desperate efforts to prevent others from continuing to track down the robbery shows she must be hiding something.
Also, I was kind of surprised that the casino mafia ended up being so reckless. There is also a question, how would the Avengers know that the real robber once confessed to the priest, and that he borrowed money and bought a gun. I think the casinos and the gun sellers are just making up the numbers.
