Children's outlook on life and values under American education

When I first saw the film, I only had one thought: there are children with problems! However, it is only at the end of the film that you can really appreciate what the writers and directors want to make people reflect on. As a traditionally educated Oriental, some of the heroine's lines in the film are quite impactful, and it is hard to imagine that they are speaking to teachers and principals, but isn't this a manifestation of American freedom? The only thing I find interesting in the film is the American way of education, such special classes, such a group of children with different special circumstances. What the teacher has to do is not to tell you what to do and what not to do, but to give a topic for children to "enjoy" the process and discover their own outlook on life and values.

Clarke: I have been dropped on my head. Daddy says Mama dropped me, and that's what accounts for my feminine ways.

Danielle: You trying to make Joan a lesbian?

  • Officer Perry: Breaking and entering, was that really necessary? I mean, couldn't you have just called? That would've been the neighborly thing to do.
