Tuskegee

During World War II, the U.S. military still enforced racial segregation. The Tuskegee program targeted African-American military pilots. From 1941 to 1946, 992 pilots were trained, 450 were sent overseas, 66 were killed, and 32 were captured.

They participated in:
15 air battles;
311 missions;
179 bomber escorts, only 25 bombers were lost,
112 air enemy planes and 150 ground enemy planes were destroyed, 148 ground enemy planes were
destroyed, and 950 enemy motor vehicles were damaged, including more than 950 trains. 600
incapacitated one destroyer and
destroyed 40 other ships.

So this movie is quite realistic.
