one of my favorite movies

One of my favorite movies, every time I watch it, there are unexpected surprises. The 100-minute movie can accommodate so much, thanks to the adaptation of the play.
History has never been properly explained. Screenwriter Bennet used a lot of ironic, subversive common sense, and contradictory settings in the film, which is really wonderful.
I'm going to see a play in London, it's super stage-like.

The film mentions some poems. My favorite is Hardy's drummer Hodge. The translation of the last paragraph is really good:

Yet portion of that unknown plain
Will Hodge forever be;
His homely Northern breast and brain
Grow to some Southern tree,
And strange-eyed constellation reign
His stars eternally.

"He will grow into a big tree in the south,
with the simple mind and heart of the north, and
let the stars twinkle with strange eyes and rule
his life forever"

Judgment when I was young and frivolous: If it weren't for the stupid rote test-oriented education, with my character and ability, I would be an Ivy League in the United States, and Cambridge and Oxford in the United Kingdom. Later, he was slapped in the face in a roundabout way. Since I can't be a good student and a handsome combination in my student days, I will strive to be a yuppie who rides a motorcycle, listens to Bach, uses Hayek, "imitation" Chen Yinke, and tells Su Dongpo's story in the future teacher era.

The History Boys quotes

  • Wilkes: You're letting yourself down. You're letting God down.

Lockwood: What's God got to do with it?

Wilkes: Listen, boy. This isn't your body.

    Lockwood: No?

Wilkes: This body is on loan to you from God.

    Lockwood: Fuck me!

Wilkes: I heard that. Give me twenty.

    Lockwood: Twenty what, Hail Marys?

    Wilkes: Do it.

  • Headmaster: Fuck the Ren-ai-ssance! And fuck literature, and Plato, and Michaelangelo, and Oscar Wilde, and all the other shrunken violets you people line up. This is a school, and it isn't normal!
