While watching "Saint", I wondered if it was "Kim Ki-duk" in front of me, why did I see "Park Chan-wook"? Both the revenge theme and the costumes of the actors are almost similar to the latter, with curly hair, flaming red lips, a gloomy and calm woman, and a similar plot, which undoubtedly reminds people of "Kind Gold". It is basically difficult to distinguish who is a good person and who is a bad person. Even the rigidity of being a gangster has a loyal side to his love, just like Jin Zi in "Kindly Gold", she uses her kindness to deceive everyone, Like poisoning some people, but in fact, she has always had a mission, which is to take revenge. After seeing "Saint", I roughly guessed the next plot, which is "revenge". And it's a "gorgeous revenge". As far as the audience sees or the "repeated revenge" in Korean movies, Kim Ki-duk may have Park's genes on him, so he's a ghost. Who is An Neng?
Kim Ki-duk's film world is largely inseparable from the "religious" element. Whether it is "Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter" or "Cihang in the Sea of Desire", whether it is direct or borderline, he has an understanding of religion. "Cihang in the Sea of Desire" talks about redemption, dedication, and being a good Samaritan without asking for anything in return. As for the relationship between mother and child in "Saint", I have read some biblical stories that Mary was called by the Holy Spirit to become pregnant, and she was called by a sudden mother. In the play, in addition to talking about this mother-son relationship, there are also views on money and life. Once upon a time, rigidity was a young man who lacked love, doing nothing all day long, hurting other people's bodies in order to achieve his goals. But that's just one aspect of him, he's not inhuman, only he didn't hurt a debt boy who was about to become a father. On the other hand, we see how bad the men in the play are. They don't believe in women, they are suspicious of women, and the relationship between husband and wife is closely linked to money. At the same time, we also saw the accusation in the play that the suicide of the suicide was not caused by rigidity, but the government made him decide to die for the sake of development. In the context of the play, it is also revealed that the industrial city he lives in is declining, and gangsters like him may be banned in the future.
Both Park Chan-wook and Kim Ki-duk's films have a causal and violent approach. For example, in "Yu Hai Cihang", the father learned of his daughter's prostitution, but he did not directly punish her, exiled her to the suburbs, and used "Saints of Death" In order to avenge her dead son, the mother played two roles when she approached the rigidity, using the impression of rigidity on her mother to get close to him, but there was a purpose inside. The film mainly highlights motherhood and the love of flesh and blood. The mother is very smart. She knows how to use people's sympathy, endure humiliation and burden and gradually gain the trust of the rigidity, and then knows how to write and direct it to make the rigidity worry. Who is the real victim? The mother lost her beloved son, and Gang lost love at the same time, they are both desperate people, each chose the road of no return.
The men who borrow money in this film are all worth noting. In the industrial city, their livelihoods are in trouble, and then standing on a high place to see the city is full of high-rise buildings, forming two pictures with the small industrial cabins . The film does not specifically mention the reasons why men borrow money, mostly because of gambling and borrowing money everywhere on credit. And most of them can't repay the money. In a society that emphasizes repayment of debts, they are not able to pay off their debts, but they borrow more. Only in this way can they have insurance money. Rigidity also understands their incompetence, but this is the rule of the rivers and lakes agreed in advance.
Undoubtedly, there are also erotic and scary scenes in the film. For example, the internal organs of the chicken are flying across the floor of the toilet. The rigidity is actually a normal boy. At the beginning of the film, he is masturbating on the bed. impactful. The mother's painful expression is just the verification of her. After losing her mother, she saw the person who had been hurt by him. That person once said that he would kill him in his lifetime. It is not only the mother who has lost her son who wants to take revenge, but he also learns to understand the pain of others, and those who have been hurt by him finally "revenge".
The whole movie exudes depression. Whether it is the interpretation of the hero and the heroine or the appeal of the people in the play, there is helplessness to life. There is no perfect person in the world, and even rigidity is not a perfect person. Returning to reality, there is a monster parent who dares not let his child touch money. The parent thinks that money is too dirty. We often say that if you have money, you may not be able to do everything right, but if you don’t have money, you can’t do it. Money, someone is chasing endlessly, is because of greed. And some people are so poor that they have no money. Money, can make people crazy, but also make people down. This is the reflection that "Saint" left to the audience.
