Closer to home.
A well-known search website said, "The Watery Poplar Flower actually tells a story of the confrontation between the old world's morality and etiquette and the new world's freedom and equality". Old things are not necessarily bad, and new things are not necessarily all right. There is no absolute good or bad in this world, and there is no need to confront morality, etiquette, freedom and equality.
The movie poster is beautiful, and it's ridiculous to look closely at Larita and her father-in-law. The director may want to portray the father-in-law as a free and equal image, but I only saw a man who was unable to face up to the cruel facts, disregarded his wife and children, and had no responsibility. In the film, his wife, who represented the morals and etiquette of the old world, pulled him back among a group of prostitutes. How much pain he endured, but he said "Not nearly as exciting as crossing your mother" at the beginning of the movie, and he finally lived up to the expectations. At the end of the movie, when the family faced bankruptcy, he ran away with his daughter-in-law, the so-called freedom and equality. Is this a man? People can never live only for themselves. From the day you are born, you are destined to live for your parents, when you grow up, for your wife and children, and for many people who have nothing to do with your dreams. Dancing with Larita is also somewhat ironic, what did he ever do for his wife who gave everything for the family? What has he done for the family?
If the movie has to express the collision of the two cultures, it is better to change the poster to Larita and her mother-in-law, the representatives of the two cultures, both admirable women.
Larita is a woman who cannot be ignored. She is beautiful, confident, strong and brave. There are a few people who can make their husbands who are suffering from pain to leave early, and a few people who can stop the loss in time and leave a place that does not belong to them. When I say I can't change, not for you... not for anybody... any more, Larita is the most beautiful time. She is tolerant but has her own bottom line, and always has a true and unique self.
Mrs. Whittaker is a hard-fought and tenacious woman. Her husband can't expect to oppose her everywhere. The daughters don't know what to say, and the son is too young and indeterminate. Fortunately, the son saw Mrs. Whittaker's difficulties and decided to let Larita do what he should do. There are two kinds of things, what you like to do and what you should do. It is a great blessing in life that the two can be unified. If you can't, you should look at what you have on your shoulders.
Like Lairta, respect Mrs. Whittaker, hate Jim, John is just immature.
