"I love my country, even though its name is Socialist Cuba."

I don't quite understand why almost everyone thinks this film is a satire on the reality that Cuban socialists cannibalize people.

Cuba is different from China, so please don't look at it with disdain when you see the words "socialism/communism". I believe that in JUAN's heart, he still loves this country.

The daughter went to Spain, the friend's son named California, the young Cuban longed for the outside world, longing for the hyped-up capitalist beauty life, the fat friend also longed for Miami, but JUAN was not.

The person on the movie poster is Che Guevara, and I believe many people know it. When I first saw this poster, I was still wondering if it was a movie made by Yankees, otherwise, how could anyone be so bored and make fun of Cuban heroes so openly.
Later, when I watched the movie again, I understood more or less.

When the big billboard was knocked over by a school bus, the sign said "revolucion o muerie" (revolution or death). You can understand by this picture that the revolutionary road/communism in Cuba will not work and will eventually collapse.
But when their team finally went to battle, when the movie was put in 43 minutes, JUAN defeated all the zombies, and when he stood panting, the street behind was still painted with "Patria o Muerte" (No Motherland, or Death) and the national flag and CHE's Avatar. I believe this sentence is exactly what JUAN is saying.

In my opinion, Cuba in the film is the little island country in reality. There, many people believed in communism, but under the influence of outside thoughts, people gradually began to change. On the streets of Cuba, there would be people stealing things, asking foreigners for property, or wandering the streets all day long trying to get something for nothing. With the influence of the people around and the passage of time, more and more such phenomena occur, people's minds begin to shake, and the beliefs they once had are now shaky. Just like the skyrocketing number of zombies in the film, and just like the billboard that was hit by the school bus.

And JUAN, he represents the Cubans who simply love Cuba and still believe in Castro and Che Guevara. Although he also saw some realities - for example, Zf attributed the zombies to the US conspiracy on the news, etc., but he still insisted on something.
It's sad to say that my father, as a real Communist, would often say at home how good Chairman Mao was when he was there, and that socialism was better than capitalism. Since I went to college, I have always been more inclined to the public view, so when he sent these feelings, I always silently blahblah in my heart. What happened to Taizu's era is not the point I want to talk about, the point is: JUAN is like my father, they also admit that there are many bad things in this society, but they believe in its essence more.

Because of this, he said to his fat friend at the beginning of the film: "Here is heaven, and it will always be heaven."
It is precisely because of this that he made his final confession: "I am a survivor. , in Mariel, Angola, special times and later disasters, I have successfully survived. This time I can too. Maybe someone will see me and fight with me. I am fine here, and I am too Love it here."

-------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------

The last thing I want to say is that at the end of the film there is a zombie in a green military uniform with the words "hasta la victoria siempre" (to the eternal victory), I see him as a man who once believed. JUAN is eliminating zombies, and is also trying to eliminate the influence of the outside world on ordinary Cuban people. It is a pity that zombies keep appearing, even though friends and family members return to fight side by side with him in the end... It will be useless.
There is some sadness, for this feeling of powerlessness when holding on to the faith.
