film is the art of omission

Suggestion is a principle of the film, a filmmaker can use the suggestive effect of the camera lens to let the audience understand, and even complete, the director's wholeheartedness.

The 2008 Austrian film "Revanche", Chinese name: revenge.

After watching this movie, I found out that, from the beginning to the end, there is no music except for the sounds of nature, and since I don't feel bored at all, I am deeply drawn by the director's film language, and in the play. The characters go through a mental journey together. It overturned the idea that I always thought that a movie had to have music.
At the same time, I was impressed by the director's talent, thinking, and ability to control. All the shots in the whole film, no one is redundant, including long shots. The director also gave the best comment to the idiom "lifting a heavy weight with ease".

Another thing worth mentioning is that although the name is revenge, but there is no bloody scene, even fighting, they only slap two feet, or only hear the sound, even the shot did not see blood, Including, the sex scene, point to point, even if the plot must need it, it also uses silhouette, even if there is a full nudity scene, but it is not pornographic at all. It can be seen that the director put his heart into each shot and explained it as clearly as possible without destroying the rhythm and style of the whole movie, which is amazing. He took the gestalt psychology in the film, that is, the film omission to the extreme.

So, I thought it must have been the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film that year, and it turned out that it was only nominated and missed the award. After checking it, as expected, it lost out to a very good Japanese movie "The Undertaker". I don't know if it's because of the lack of music, hehe. The original sound of The Undertaker is pretty good. That year, there were several excellent foreign-language films: including the must-see "The Class" for all North American French-speaking educators, with the French name "Entre les murs", which in Chinese means: Between the Walls.
