various fears

Some film critics said that young people should not watch this film, because after watching it, they will be afraid of their old age.

But I still watched it, because I have seen countless old-fashioned movies with similar themes such as "Second-hand Lion", "Harry Brown", "Is there anyone there", "Foreigners Hotel" and so on. I think my psychological capacity is enough.

Looking at it in one breath, there are many, many things I want to say, but the first thing that comes to my mouth is about "fear", yes, the various fears described in the film, and these fears, in my opinion, are the root of misfortune .

First up is Janet, the opening patient, whose infectious irritability drives the film to a climax at the beginning. Her fear is that life is the same. It is conceivable that a young woman with a dream once longed for a better life, but in the end it is true that her husband is drinking too much (guess), her daughter is far away from marriage, and her son is the eldest and still lives with his parents (possibly unemployed). gnawing old clan)... Suddenly one day before going to bed, something triggers her, which makes her have these fears, and she can't sleep because of the fear.

Then came spring, the time for sowing. Mary shows up, and Mary's fears are the most complex, but I think it boils down to the fear of losing youth. It is conceivable that being single, free, financially independent, not having to do housework, and not having to be a husband or a child, sounds like a modern lifestyle, but this lifestyle is obviously more suitable for a young single woman, not for a mature woman with cat.
Mary gave her youth to two relationships, one she felt was young and ignorant, and the other was cheating. When she finally walked out, she suddenly realized that she was no longer that happy young single woman, no man ignored her wink, and even older men despised her. But deep down, she has been refusing to admit that she is no longer young, so she has fantasies about Tom's son Joe, jealousy of Katie, and reacts violently when old Ken expresses his affection for her.

Then came summer, the formative years. Ken came, Ken was a handsome guy when he was young (as Gerri said), but now he is a fat old man who does not leave his hand and drink without leaving his mouth. He doesn't like those "noisy" young people, which shows that he has entered the mentality of the elderly very well, so he looks very happy on the surface, and the "Xia" section is also the happiest section in the whole film. But his fears come from loneliness, and the loss of his friends is so stressful that a funeral associated with a tree on the railroad can destroy his spiritual defenses. But Ken is positive and recognizes himself. I firmly believe that he will still find happiness. Of course, the premise is that he does not die prematurely because of heart disease and diabetes...

Autumn is the harvest season, and Joe finally got his girlfriend Katie. . I haven't seen the fear of Joe and Katie for a while.

Winter is finally here, and this is the only one of the 4 that doesn't start with a vegetable garden, because winter is the season to test your business results in spring, summer and autumn. In this section, I didn't read out Ronnie's fear, but felt the fear of Ronnie's son Carl. Like Janet, the patient in the title, Carl has a very strong negative energy. Carl's fears come from doubts about himself, imagine being from a mediocre family, separated from his father, running away from home and getting along badly. Irritability is what people show when they are extremely panicked, fearful and insecure.

  • Gerri: Life's not always kind, is it?

    Mary: No, it isn't Gerri.

  • Ken: Young people, young people. Everything's for young people. Those bars, you know, they're full of young people shouting about nothing.
