A "raw" movie that deals with courage and belief. A Man Escaped does not try to trick audiences into believing or disbelieving anything, the catch of the film lies in its attempt to present the true feelings of a inmate during the Second World War. Fontaine is able to escape not because he possessed any superhuman attributes, but simply because he has the determination and faith for freedom, and for this, he should be seen as a true hero. The movie is also memorable for its sound effects, especially the sounds of minor details that truly enhance the experience of our viewing.
