You never know why until the last minute

Every time I recommend a movie in the past few years, I will recommend it.

At first, I was attracted by the slightly bloody and thrilling novel setting of "Awakening of Anesthesia". Imagine that in a life-and-death operation, you who should have been anesthetized and unconscious, suddenly woke up and felt the pain of being cut open by a scalpel. You want to call for help, but find yourself awake only consciously, unable to make a sound or move. This alone is enough to attract people who want to watch it and want to know the next encounter and final fate of the protagonist.

But this movie obviously exceeded my expectations and gave me more surprises. Although the out-of-body scene is a bit old-fashioned and vulgar, this is not the point that the director wants to present. The main point is the [truth] seen by the protagonist at the moment. I have to say that Alba's acting skills are really good. At first, she deceived not only the male protagonist, but also the audience like me. It can be said that this film has excavated human nature to an extreme, and each character image is quite distinct. As far as the plot is concerned, it is actually a very conventional setting, but the foundation of the script is too deep. Presenting an old-fashioned story in a new way gives people a completely different feeling. An operation is performed more tense than a shootout, and you never know why until the last minute.

I don't know why the doctor's monologue at the end made me want to cry. Human nature, ah human nature, maybe what you see is fundamentally different from what you actually see.

  • Clay Beresford: So it's tough love today, huh?

Dr. Jack Harper: You think this is a joke?

  • Dr. Jack Harper: [closing narration] At 6:32 this morning, on Thursday the 1st of November, Clayton Beresford Jr. died on my operating table. Two and a half hours later, his life was saved. There are no excuses for what we did. There's no defense, no-one to blame but us. We got what we deserved. Clay would have his revenge, and justice would finally be served. But despite all the secrets, despite all the lies, and a terrible loss, one thing really matters now. He... is... awake.
