Characters by Alan Sorkin

My overall feeling about West Wing is good.
It just feels that the character created by Alan Sorkin is a bit paranoid and unreal. In fact, there is no such person in the world. He may want to influence the audience through TV series and let us work like gods.
The protagonists of the West Wing are a group of political elites who work in the West Wing of the White House. They help the president win the selection and help him run the country together.
Their ideals are lofty, their friendship pure and noble, and their work rises from time to time to philosophical heights: what's right? What is wrong? What does the Bible say? How should we guide the development of human civilization? How to make the social system develop in the direction of rewarding the good and punishing the evil?
The exploration of these problems will make them sleepless every day, but they are all happy, they have almost no life of their own except work, and they are really as industrious as bees.
Coincidentally, the News Room created by Alan Sorkin gives us the same feeling, a group of journalistic elites working like noble bees. After watching more than 10 episodes, I suddenly thought, what is the purpose of him making these TV series? What is politics and journalism like in real life? Is he setting a benchmark for us, or is he giving us a mirror?

The West Wing quotes

  • Donna Moss: She should stick around. Your whole campaign is like some Dr. Seuss nightmare - One Fish, Two Fish, Dead Fish, We Fought The Good Fight Fish.

  • Reporter: Would the White House care to comment on the expected contrast between the high degree of organization and discipline in the Republican Convention and the Democrats' anticipated free-for-all?

Annabeth Schott: I believe the American people will be the beneficiaries, in that they will be presented with a clear choice: do they want to be governed by people who are animated, or animatronic?
