Coppola wrote and directed the film in the same year (before) that "The Godfather 2" was made. Cannes Palme d'Or winner. Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
It tells the story of a master eavesdropper who struggles between morality and professionalism. Sounds mundane, but in plot it wraps a murderous conspiracy and unexpected ending, in theme it highlights the sinister nature of technological advancements, and in rhythm it's full of Hitchcock-esque suspense, On the camera, there are many horror movie classics such as blood in the toilet, and then catch the uproar of the Watergate incident, so the history of celebrity movies. At the end of the film, the protagonist turned his house over to find the eavesdropping device, and after finding nothing, he reluctantly blew the saxophone. This man in the eavesdropping world was diligent and harmless all his life, but he had no friends, did not trust his lover, lost his sense of security, and even had doubts about his career; to a certain extent, these also reflected the American mentality.
So far, I have watched all five films in which John Cazale acted, not to mention how well he acted personally, the IMDB score of all five films is 8, which is probably unprecedented.
It turns out that Harrison Ford also had his days as a young boy.
