That's What I Am
wrote a recommendation, not a recommendation, not because the movie is not that good, but the weight of "recommendation" is that it is not necessarily, and it does not have to suit everyone's appetite.

Watching this movie, I saw a preview on TV and heard only one sentence, "sometimes u just need someone to tell you that u can", of course, this line is not new, but because this line is a teacher's right what his students said. I suddenly wanted to see it.

From college to graduation to the present, I can't remember how many people have asked me, "Why don't you want to be a teacher?" The answer has nothing to do with the nature and form of this profession. I just don't like to "influence" people (I just don't want to explain it further.), especially after watching "Dead Poets Society" (if you haven't seen the movie, don't be misled by my sentence , those who have seen it will automatically skip this sentence).

Before watching this movie, I was actually still holding the expectation of whether the movie could subvert my idea of not wanting to be a teacher. Fortunately, from a certain angle it is. At least a nice teacher can tell his/her student that he/she can do it. You can just believe him/her and support him/her, and that makes a difference. It's what I am managing to do and do better. Actually I am not teacher now, to be exact, I am a counselor (maybe more dangerous than being an English teacher).

One of the scenes impressed me most: Before Big G sings, Andrew punches the bastard who was going to slander Stainley. At this time, Mr. Simon protected Andrew and said Good Job to him. Moved by Mr. Simon, he protects those children who fight for friendship and discrimination; moved by Andrew, he has learned courage and dignity; moved by Big G, he has dignity, and he explains perfectly “tolerance”.

Remember The opening sentence, children are cruel. Indeed, you will see this when watching many American school movies. May the cruelty end in immature ignorance. Education should find how to stop cruel things among children.

  • Norman Grunmeyer: If I had Big G's body, I'd have kicked Freel's ass! Then I'd have kicked Ricky Brown's ass just to cool down.

  • Mr. Clear: You know, it's funny, I... I've been watching you deliver your papers there and, uh... You've got a hell of an arm, by the way, kid.

    Andy Nichol: Thank you.

Mr. Clear: But somehow you just seem to hit everybody's porch but mine. You got any theories on that?
