masculine

I have to admit, the gimmick of the male stripper is one of the reasons that attracted me to this movie. The trailer is very tempting, and it is really hard not to be hooked by all kinds of male and beautiful men showing their good figures. Of course, the love for Channing Tatum is also one of the direct + main reasons.
On the second day of the premiere, the huge theater was almost full. I thought that only girls/young women would be interested in this film, but I didn't expect that all age groups and men would appear.
The film begins with Matthew McConaughey's provocative opening remarks and Channing's good physique. Eye-catching enough.
The next development is a stark contrast, with heart-rending, sexually suggestive choreography in the stripping club and a group of handsome men including Channing, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew Bomber (Neal in white collar), Joe Manganiello (true Blood actor) was worth the price in a way; then there was real life with no soundtrack, just dialogue between characters. This stark gap once made me a little anxious, wishing I could fast forward to the next performance in the strip club on the spot. But when I look back on it now, I realize that although this film uses the concept of stripper to lure the audience into the theater, it actually shows the contradictory world in which the male stripper lives. Mike played by Channing is faced with the choice of his future path, whether to continue to be a stripper in his 30s or start a new life from it. At that age, in the face of money and beauties, unconsciously lost in them and unable to extricate themselves. It can be said that for the audience who are looking for a point of laughter, the depiction of reality in the film may be too boring, but that part may be what the director and Channing want to express the people who want to change the status quo but face a lot of helplessness.
I saw some reports that this film, invested and produced by Steven Soderbergh and Channing Tatum, actually wanted to express Channing's rebellion and protest against his position as a handsome boy in Hollywood.
Although the box office revenue ranked second in the competition with Ted, which is also an R-rated film in the first week, as a film with only an investment of 7 million US dollars, the box office reached nearly 40 million US dollars in the opening weekend, which is already a Victory, not to mention, in terms of the script and the depth of what it was trying to convey, I thought Magic Mike was a complete victory over Ted.
