During the Great Depression in the United States, large tracts of farmland in Oklahoma were dry for a long time, and the vast number of farmers fell into desperation. The down-and-out Joads were forced to leave their homes and travel westward across the impassable desert in a battered vintage Ford to find a safe haven in California. On the way, the elderly grandfather and grandmother died one after another, Joad's brother Noah quietly left, Joad's friend Casey was killed, and Joad was also hunted down. Although the family survived and the future is uncertain, but the mother still encourages everyone to live tenaciously.
