politics is power, nothing more

The first thing I want to say is that stances are a scary thing. Anyone will have some position. Even the most impartial and selfless person will always have a perceptual judgment about what happens around him.
And that's why people can only be people.
In the pub where jim was after the president was assassinated, when it was confirmed that JFK was dead, someone said, "goodbye you sorry bastard, die." I think if jim thought the same thing, this story wouldn't have happened . All of this happens on the premise that jim has a loving and sympathetic attitude towards JFK.
Stance always blinds us, makes us not see what we should see, and not believe what is common sense. However, the cost of being without a stand is so high that I have never seen anyone do it.
The so-called adherence to the truth, in many cases, is nothing more than sticking to one's own position.
So I don't wonder why Oliver Stone, who participated in the Vietnam War, and not someone else made this movie.

Contrary to what many people think, I think the climax of this movie came after general X came out. It was the appearance of general X that made jim understand what he was facing, and also gave the audience a sense of enlightenment.
X's long monologue just after meeting jim showed us clearly how the world we live in works. Sharp and gorgeous shattered a lot of our innocence.
The expression on X's face is intriguing. It was an expression of detachment and helplessness intertwined.
"They've done it throughout the history. Kings are killed, Mr. garrison. Politics is power, nothing more!"
Jim hesitated after realizing what he was up against. And X tells him that you no longer have a choice and your only chance is to keep the case going.
Although it may be more obscene (I have always been suspicious of great and glorious human nature), I think this is also an important reason for jim to continue, maybe even the most important reason.
But this does not affect the image of jim in my heart, but makes it more vivid. This man also neglects his family when he is busy at work. In a hurry, it will explode.
This gives me reason to believe that great things are not done by great people, but ordinary people who have worked hard to do great things become great people.

What Stone gives me the most is that when he pays attention to the subject he wants to express, he never forgets the details that are not related to the subject, but feel real.
After nearly two hours of laying out, the film ushered in a climax. It also turned this movie that looked like a suspense movie in the first half into a political movie.
Well, politics is power, nothing more. Expressing some of the feelings I have expressed always makes me a little tired. so be it.
Let's end with two sentences from Jim's last speech.
Treason doth never prosper, What's the reason? For if it prosper, none dare call it treason.
A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against its government.

3 and a half hours, huge amount of information. When you find that the darkness in front of you is so thick that you can't see your five fingers clearly, and you even doubt yourself, you are afraid, and the truth will be buried forever... Can you fight the world by yourself? I don't have the courage... At the final trial, I burst into tears, not only for Garrison's persistence and courage, but also for living in a country without democracy and truth, and even the world.

50 Government officials should rely on their own judgment rather than unquestioningly carry out the will of the people they serve. 60 Politicians should pursue common ground and reasonable consensus rather than elusive ideals.

JFK quotes

  • X: After I came back, I asked myself, why was I, the chief special officer, selected to travel to the South Pole at that time that any number of others could have done? And I wondered if it was because one of my routine duties if I had been in Washington would have been to arrange for additional security in Texas, so I decided to check it out. And sure enough, someone had told the 112th Military Intelligence Group at Fourth Army Headquarters at Fort Sam Houston in Texas to stand down that day, over the protests of the Unit Commander, Colonal Rike. This is significant because it is standard operating procedure, especially in a lnown hostile city like Dallas.

  • Dean Andrews: Is this off the record, Daddy-O?
