With "Love First", "Valentine's Day" and "Actually He Doesn't Like You That Much" before, this movie is bound to fall out of the rut. Although there are several stars supporting the scene, they are still not interested.
There is a good line, the New Year's crystal ball fell in the air, and people all over New York were waiting in Times Square. Hilary Swank as host reassures everyone: "It's suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the new year to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by. To remember both our triumphs and our missteps. Our promises made and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures or closed ourself down for fear of getting hurt. Because that's what New Year is all about. Getting another chance. A change to forgive. To do better, to do more, to give more , to love more. And to stop worrying about 'waht if' and start embracing what will be. Let's remember to be nice to each other. Kind to each other. And not just tonight, but all year long."
"Sometimes, there are so many things out of our control: earthquakes, floods, reality shows. It's important that we remember what we can do, like forgiveness, another chance, fresh air. Because there is always One thing that can turn this lonely world into a beautiful home is love, love in all its forms. Love gives us hope, hope for the new year."

It seems that Ebert said before, to see whether this multi-line narrative is a trick or not, it depends on whether each small story is interesting separately. According to this standard, this movie is obviously the former, and every little story is lacking in novelty or not.

Too many stars will dilute the plot and make it look too sloppy. It can only be said that true love is supreme and cannot be surpassed.

New Year's Eve quotes

  • Sam: What would you do today if you knew you would not fail?

  • Claire Morgan: [voice over, opening lines] Some people swear there's no beauty left in the world, no magic. Then, how do you explain the entire world coming together on one night to celebrate the hope of a new year?
