I always believed that fear belonged to other people. Weaker people. She was right.
Because the Avengers fell in love with Jodie Foster, it's hard to imagine anyone else playing Erica, everyone seems to think so. I suddenly thought, what if it was a man? What if David survived? Of course, revenge is not a patent only for women. Even as the film says, how could it be thought that the person holding the gun was a woman? Everyone, young or old, strong or weak, cannot avoid harm. All I can say right now is if the Avengers weren't a woman, or if the protagonist wasn't Jodie, the movie would be very different.
Looking at Erica, I suddenly thought that only some people will become real avengers. After encountering unforeseen and unchangeable pain and catastrophe, they become another person, a stranger, or it can be said that the original one himself, has become a stranger. No matter how helpless or sad, it's not that you've become a stranger and you're helpless and sad, but watching your old self drift away and can't feel your old self, this is a kind of sadness.
And most of them are just listeners who called in from the Erica show.
Regarding the supporters, there are several points worth mentioning in the film: the woman who helped Erica bandage the wound, heard her say that she had killed a person, and actually started to talk about her hometown customs, bandaged and began to wipe the blood on the floor. The girl that Erica rescued from the pervert was sent to the hospital with her legs broken, and when she saw Erica herself, she refused to tell the truth against Erica. After the dog was robbed, he has been with his enemies, and when he saw the owner who came for revenge, he took the owner to find every enemy. What is the movie trying to say, revenge is the law of nature? Needless to say, the detective.
Besides Jodie, oh my God, this woman has handled every detail so well. There were so many times when she met the detective face to face, at such a close distance, and in such a pertinent conversation, how many times I looked down with my heart tugging at her, but she didn't show any (or ordinary people should show) panic or excitement. Or restless. When correcting the suspect, she was so calm, and she made a judgment that ordinary people could not make at all - she couldn't lose the opportunity for revenge. No hysteria, no crying, not even shuddering fear, her mind was clear and fast - to get revenge.
I can't help thinking, maybe that's the IQ of 130, maybe that's why Jodie is Jodie.
Finally, regarding the title of the film, The brave one, I personally think it is better to literally translate it as a brave person. Revenge is of course the theme, but more than that. And the revenge in this film is by no means the kind of happy revenge played by Kill Bill. There are many ways to want to die, but it is difficult to find a way to survive. People are asking is it over? What happened at the end? Will the Avengers continue? These are not important anymore, we can only say that the Erica at that time has become a complete stranger, and this Erica at this time will live bravely.
