This must be my top 10 favorite movie. It has everything I love about a movie: beautiful and impeccable scenes and shots, luxurious almost hypocritical lines and accents, sexy women with aura, and love and freedom.
Veronica falls in love with a noble young man who cannot marry her. This scene still exists to this day. Is love and marriage really free in our society? In this movie, the pathological condition of being interfered by your parents, when it happens to you, you probably think that your parents are doing it for your own good. How many men finally chose a good family, chose a gentle and virtuous girl, and gave up the warm and beautiful woman in their life.
On the one hand, there are noble ladies who have never read books, behave virtuously and elegantly, and think traditionally. On the one hand, she is a favorite prostitute who can play the piano, dance, and recite poetry in high-level social situations. I envy the prostitutes, I envy that era, men at least know how to appreciate the talent of women.
Today's girls are getting more and more educated, but unfortunately, how many are really talented girls who read Yan Ruyu in books. Today's girls know how to follow trends and flirt with boys, but how many of them are girls who understand the inspiration in their talents and their true sexy side.
We lived for love lust and beauty.
Pleasure than our only duty.
Just because you took a vow doesn't mean you know how to love.
Love this line.
"When we too are armed and trained, we can convince men that we have hands, feet, and a heart like yours; and although we may be delicate and soft, some men who are delicate are also strong; and others, coarse and harsh , are cowards. Women have not yet realized this, for if they should decide to do so, they would be able to fight you until death; and to prove that I speak the truth, amongst so many women, I will be the first to act, setting an example for them to follow."
-- From the real Veronica Franco in the history.
"A woman's greatest and most hard-won asset is an education."
Here the "education" means the true "education."
