The movie is basically faithful to the original novel. But no matter how you look at it, it is not as delicate as the English original. Could it be because of gender? Victor Frankenstein, please forgive my criticism of you, because I haven't finished reading the original book, I express my resentment only for you in the movie.
The beginning of the film emphasizes the captain's vain attempt to enter the North Pole and make his name in the annals of history. I think its significance is to highlight how paranoid Victor Frankenstein's desire to bring the dead back to life is. The captain said that as long as he could enter the North Pole to find out, he would not hesitate to sacrifice his life. Just like Victor back in the day, when Elizabeth asked him if there was anything better than the love between them, he murmured; he was silent; he didn't know how to answer. He, at that time, was falling into a nightmare as thick as amniotic fluid created by himself, unable to extricate himself.
The obsession with not letting the beloved go away made him eventually lose all the people he loved, the people who loved him.
The two tragic characters of Frankenstein are undoubtedly Victor and his creation. Poor creation doesn't even have a name.
Ask me if I sympathize with Victor, and I think I'd say ruthlessly and decisively: No! But I feel sorry for the people who were lost because of his obsession and genius, and the trauma they suffered in their lifetimes.
What really makes me pity and let me sigh is creation.
This is also the most attractive part of this work. The shock of the work lies in human nature, not technology. Technology, this cold word, cannot make my blood surging, although at this time I am enjoying the convenience brought by advanced technology. And is using to make some of my absurd remarks.
The various bridges interspersed in the film lack connections and appear not very smooth. Looking at the pictures similar to "Four Hundred Years of Vampires", I want to say that more than 120 minutes is enough for the director to describe the creation more vividly and delicately. He doesn't have to be smart, but he's human; he doesn't have to be wise, but he can think; he doesn't have to be handsome, but he's pitiful.
I don't know how to define this creation, but I would like to treat him as a human being.
That is the case, the world is frightened, and it is understandable to chase and beat it. Why is Victor, who is similar to his biological father, the same? When he thought he was dead, Victor lowered his head; when he found out he was alive, Victor picked up the guy, swung it, banged it, hit it.
From the beginning, Victor didn't know what he was going to do. Immersed in the grief of the loss of a mother's love; Immersed in the experiment of returning from the dead; Immersed in the frenzied and intense self-satisfaction, self-intoxication, self-abandonment, self-worship.
Sanity, not when Victor needed it; communication, not when Victor needed it; and Victor became Frankenstein. isn't it? real monster. Isn't he the one who really caused people to scream? !
You weren't there when creation needed you, Victor.
You should cover him up; you should teach him how to behave; you should teach him how to control the undercurrents in his heart. All should have not been realized, so perhaps the train that could be controlled on the normal track derailed. The humanity, compassion, forgiveness, and tolerance that existed in the body disappeared. When creation fell, it was also when Victor fell.
Victor is not only a Frankenstein, but also a tragic playwright.
What creation kept talking about was friend; family. But he didn't. He tried, tried, fought for. The world cannot be forced to have Buddha-nature and noble feelings for no reason to tolerate and accept this alien that is beyond their basic understanding and acceptable range. But Victor, you are different. This reminds me of another movie, "Edward Scissorhands", except that Edward was lucky and met a kind human who brought him to live in his own home. More importantly, Edward's creator taught Edward responsibly, endowed him with love, and made him understand the sameness of love and the beauty of existence. Perhaps, if Victor loved and taught him the way Edward's father did, he could also bring forth his unique talents - as in the movie playing the flute.
The creator of the tragedy is creation, but the initiator is Victor, similar to an abettor. In other words, power has always been in the hands of human beings, how to use it, human beings should think about it, think carefully, and supervise it. What can you think about? What are you thinking about? what to do? Nothing but heartbeat. So, once again returned to human nature, this timeless old topic. Creation has humanity but no love. It is like a person who walks in the dark, without the stars and the moon to guide the way, without the lights, and it is inevitable to stumble in the darkness.
You - love, not there when humanity needs you.
