Indian cinema seems to focus on the integrity of the story, even if it sacrifices a lot of time to set it up. In the face of racial conflict, they wanted to choose, but were chosen. When ZOONI finds the body of his father flowing under the ice, the story inevitably leads to a tragic end.
India is Tagore's hometown after all, and poetic lines appear frequently in the play. I feel that the importance of poetry to Indians should be equal to the status of haiku in Japan.
