The so-called war horse is probably a horse that is undefeated in a hundred battles. At the beginning of the film, it was constantly paving the way. There is a short story in the film that the grandfather of the farm told his granddaughter. The granddaughter knew that her parents were killed by the German army, but when the German army came to loot the house, the grandfather still succumbed in obedience. The granddaughter blamed the grandfather for his weakness. Grandpa sat on a chair and told a story to his granddaughter. Carrier pigeons are animals that can change wars, and their duty is to keep flying to their destination. For a carrier pigeon to survive, it must keep its eyes fixed on the direction of the home and keep flying. The living method of the carrier pigeon is the second time in the film that the meaning of living is clearly shown. The way of survival of carrier pigeons is to avoid, avoid the battlefield where the bullets are haunted, survive and complete their mission. Living in a cowardly way is another sign of bravery. After the grandfather finished speaking, the thunder in the sky stopped, the rain poured down, and the granddaughter left a line of tears.

The film revolves around how different groups of people are alive to express Spielberg's definition of bravery. The first time, it was a tenant, an alcoholic father. In the film he usually holds a jug and keeps pouring wine into his mouth. Such a man, who was bullied by the farmer, bought JOY, a good horse that could not be farmed, at a sky-high price. When the father has no hope of JOY, the mother tells the child that the alcoholic father just needs to use this way to escape the pursuit of memories, whether it is glory or blood-stained hands. To escape from the past is to maintain the present, to live, to work hard with the relatives around the present, and to live for the stability of the whole family.
Then came the story of the German deserters. One of the two brothers was sent to the front, and the other was ordered to stay at the garrison to manage the horses. Perhaps the elder brother had promised his parents before enlisting in the army that he would always stay with his younger brother so that his life would not be in danger. This separation made my brother uneasy. Finally, after the team set off, the older brother rode JOY and his friends, pulled the backpack of the younger brother in the team, and dragged him onto the horse. A teenager still knows what it means to be alive. Even if he was shot for being a deserter in the end, it was considered a desperate struggle to survive.
Then there is the story of grandfather and granddaughter. In order to survive, I swallowed hard. Like carrier pigeons, they are unwilling to face the turbulent battle situation calmly. Grandpa said, that's not the sound of artillery fire, don't be afraid, it's the wind that brought them. War is far from us. Even though his granddaughter is old enough to know everything, he still says that. This pair of two generations apart is trying their best to survive in such a war. A child's temperament will feel that his grandfather is useless at a certain moment, but the wisdom of an old man is the simplest and most direct, just living.
