In ≪Gentlemen's League≫, a series of bad jokes take place in a remote town called Royston Vasey. The isolated environment of the small town creates exaggerated characters who are detached from the values of the world, which is unbelievable. The almost distorted or even deformed character characteristics and storyline together form the unique tone of the play. Just like the small town of ≪Ultimate Police Detective≫, Royston Vasey exudes a faint horror atmosphere, but still makes the audience feel the ease and casualness of comedy. There is still a hint of lightness and optimism in the gray sadness.
My favorite is probably the kind-hearted two swordsmen, who are always self-defeating - injecting euthanasia to a healthy dog, trying to refresh the tortoise but dissociating its body and armour, making the wrong "entrance" for the cow to give birth, dragging Out of its internal organs... To make matters worse, there are also a group of innocent children standing in front of him.
In short, you certainly won't let him treat you.
In a grocery store lived a strange couple with pig noses, neither new things nor strangers. However, no matter how repelled they were, they could not stop the bulldozers from building new roads. The boss, Ed, has to use a trick to save the two's comfort zone. Conflicts and dramatic contradictions abound in this farce.
The butcher's shop owner played by McGee secretly sells a mysterious food to the people. Although we all understand its ecstasy and irresistible deliciousness, it has never been unveiled.
The brawny man who wants sex reassignment surgery, the stubborn and fiery office worker, the "egregious" career counselor, these distinctive characters form an embarrassing contrast to the tranquility of the small town.
It is not difficult to see that every crazy villager is accompanied by at least one unlucky "normal person" - the son of the transformed grocery store owner and all their victims, two office workers' friends Mike & Brian, and the lurking in the class. Ombudsman, unconsciously we develop understanding and sympathy for the "madman", and the subtle line between madness and normality gradually fades. This is a very bad purpose of the screenwriter - not only to bring out the dark side of everyone's heart , given to the little people, and after magnifying the darkness, let us laugh at ourselves.
Only at the end did we know that in the eyes of this strange crowd and society, we are the lunatics.
