A Bridge Too Far: This Battle Case is Worth Pondering

This is a battle case that is worth pondering for future generations.

"Market-Garden". It is planned to adopt the airborne "leapfrog" tactic, with a total of 35,000 people from the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions of the US Army, the 1st Airborne Division of the British Army, and the Polish Parachute Brigade, in turn in Eindhoven, Nijmegen, and the 63-mile battle depth. Arnhem was airborne in three places, seized the bridge on the Rhine River, and escorted the ground advancing corps like a "baton" to the Ruhr area in the hinterland of Germany.

I've all seen massive airdrops, in which the British felt deep behind enemy lines, and both bridges were held, both paratroopers desperately held until the Army arrived, at a heavy cost, but failed to end the war before Christmas.

The momentum of the film is grand, and the shaping of the war scenes has reached the top performance. The downside is that it is filled with a lot of unnecessary details and a lot of exaggerated dialogue, which greatly reduces the tension of the film. The acting skills of the two young handsome guys are also slightly immature~

Now it is very rare to see such a multi-angle panoramic war system. Not to mention the huge investment of human, material and financial resources, the determination and perseverance required for the creative process alone is not comparable to ordinary movies. The director of the film has served in the military. The original author is a war correspondent who has personally experienced World War II. Many of the big-name actors in the film were born in the war years and were more or less tied to this war. Therefore, it must be a certain belief that brought so many people together to produce such a classic World War II movie.

  • Corporal Hancock: Sir.

    [Offers mug of tea]

Major General Urquhart: Hancock. I've got lunatics laughing at me from the woods. My original plan has been scuppered now that the jeeps haven't arrived. My communications are completely broken down. Do you really believe any of that can be helped by a cup of tea?

    Corporal Hancock: Couldn't hurt, sir.

[Urquhart accepts his mug of tea]

  • Brigadier General Gavin: What's the best way to take a bridge?

Maj. Julian Cook: Both ends at once.

Brigadier General Gavin: I'm sending two companies across the river by boat. I need a man with very special qualities to lead.

Maj. Julian Cook: Go on, sir.

Brigadier General Gavin: He's got to be tough enough to do it and he's got to be experienced enough to do it. Plus one more thing. He's got to be dumb enough to do it... Start getting ready.

U.S. captain: What was all that about, Major?

Maj. Julian Cook: Well someone's come up with a real nightmare. Real nightmare.
