Based on the real life of Kathryn Polkwak, a UN peacekeeper ten years ago, "The Whistleblower" tells the story of a policewoman caught up in a scandalous affair with the U.S. authorities. The clues of the film are extremely complex and full of political metaphors.
American policewoman Jiafu (played by Li Suhuisi) went to Bosnia to perform a peacekeeping mission, and accidentally discovered the most staggering crime of human trafficking. Most innocent girls were brutally murdered. In order to destroy this criminal group, Jiafu found a mountain of Blood evidence, military officers and diplomats from many countries were involved in the case, and it has become difficult to distinguish between enemy and mine for a while. Jiafu vowed to disclose all evidence to the death, but was dismissed from her post, and became the target of sniping by the military and police around the world.

  • [first lines]

Raya: [in Ukrainian] I have to get home. Mama's gonna kill me.

Luba: No. You are staying with me tonight. Roman wants us there at nine in the morning. Raya, we've been over this. It's just a few months working in a hotel.

    Raya: Yes, but...

Luba: You want to work at a Copyshack like your mother? He said it was both of us or nothing!

    Raya: ...No.

    [walks away]

  • Blakely: During your training you will see that peace is harder won than war. That every mornings hope is haunted by yesterday's nightmare.
