London home squat

Black Books is a typical representative of British family comedy. Unlike TBBT, which GEEK represents, the protagonists in Black's Bookstore do not have nerd genes or nerd culture. Their hearts are very longing for the outside world, but because of the brain short circuit syndrome, they have to stay dry in the bookstore.

The two male protagonists in Blake's bookstore: bernard and manny, are a bit like China's unhappy and mindless. As the owner of the bookstore, Bernard is an old alcoholic and an old smoker. He is in the late stage of mania, sloppy, and loves to bully the clerk Manny. And the clerk Manny seems to be an Italian mafia, but he is a very good old man, but he is neurotic all day long and is happy to be bernard Bully. And their only female friend, fran, is a horny, silly big sister who also smokes and drinks. Of course, there are also many miserable customers who are "killed" by Bernard all day long.

Black Bookstore basically has no main story line. Every day starts with a nervousness and ends with a hangover. The whole play seems very nonsensical, but the laughs are very connotative and quintessential, making people addicted to it. Although Black's Bookstore has only 3 seasons and 18 episodes, its real essence is only season 1, and all of them can be called classics. But until the last episode, the overall lack of strength of the show led to its hasty end.

While a lot of people have regrets about the finale, I think that even with the true finale at the end, the story is more or less the same as it is now. Black Bookstore is not a family comedy that takes the heart-warming route, and the protagonist basically has no "conscience" and "moral scale". There will be no hugs, apologies, saying "I love you", or even smiling. Therefore, when the actors are performing various absurd and bizarre plots, the characters are more unique and attractive, and the audience will have less "moral burden".

It can be said that Black Bookstore is a TV series with fairly monotonous theme elements. There is no warmth, no love, no inspiration, and even the colors are boring, but monotony does not mean boring. In fact, the words and deeds of the protagonists, especially Bernard, are deeply representative of the group. Bernard smashes bowls and tore books all day long, hysterical towards people; addicted to alcohol and exiles himself; being mean to manny is inseparable from his helplessness; even rolling his eyes at decent people, will deeply fit the primitive mania in people's hearts And the secret madness that expects indulgence, especially in a nation as somber as the English. It can be said that bernard is the enlargement of the human id image.

Why are the ratings in the second and third seasons generally higher than those in the first season? I think watching British dramas requires getting started. Once you fall in love, you really can’t go away.
